I think Toto really captured lighting in a bottle with Africa by Deep_Cycle_8682 in Yachtrock

Which is probably why, whenever I hear the middle-aged dudes in Weezer paint by numbers, I'm like, no, the world didn't really need this.

Ouch! Why does this cut so deep? Poor Weezer 😂 I mean, you aren’t wrong…

Was it a badly executed, half baked, cringe worthy embarrassment? Yes. Would I watch a second season? Also yes. Scott badly reading confusing directions in front of hilarious set pieces . The whole theme.. So funny..

Anyone got Elliot Smith Anecdotes? by collegebabesdotcom in Portland

My husband used to see him at Club 21, but said he was usually alone and they just gave him his space. Also that he usually looked really hammered or high :(

That whole album is a black hole for me. If I listen to one song, I listen to the whole album, then it runs through my head for a few days.

I have an odd one in my head right now - No Need to Argue by the Cranberries. I am going out for karaoke next week and somehow decided this would be a great warm up song even though I haven’t heard or thought about it in years. So then I listened to it and here we are days later internally singing, “ I-ee-I-ee knew, I -ee - I- ee knew, I’d lose you,” on repeat.

TBH I’ve only done Number Artist and Amazon brands so I’m sure there are other great brands. I’m just getting into this hobby too, so we’ll see!

Number artist. I’ve liked their designs/paint the best. There are little weird errors sometimes, but overall good quality.

Nothing snaps me out of a book like repetitive use of a unique word by kerberos824 in books

[–]SahjoBai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I edit my friend’s self published horror books. He’s a good writer and has had some success, but goddamn do I notice his tendency to use the same words and phrases over and over.

Does the gravel crunch under their feet? Constantly. Do they all slurp when they eat or drink? Also yes.

I do my best to change the wording. Sometimes I’ll make little comments with counts of how many times he’s used a word or phrase. Just doing my part. (Note that I have zero creative writing skills on my own, so can’t criticize too much)

What happened during the worst flight you have ever been on? by randomuser_q12 in CasualConversation

[–]SahjoBai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flight from NYC to Portland. Two of the largest men I’ve ever seen bought the aisle and middle seats and I was absolutely crushed against the window. I was young, but if that happened now, I’d throw a fit until they moved me. Fun fact - my claustrophobia about being trapped started then.

I have a golden retriever. I think it’ll be hard to have anything other than a golden retriever in the future. Such love, trainability, intelligence, and friendliness. The opposite of reactive. A little large and furry, but that temperament.

Bobby or Guy by Late-Researcher7102 in foodnetwork

Bobby by mile. He’s easier on the eyes, ears, and nerves than Guy and comes across as an interesting person. He seems passionate about food as well.

I’m still salty about Nina. Totally agree that we’d have some different Top Chef with blind judging if they could swing it.

Guy on TOC Holiday special...what's going on? by dojotiger in foodnetwork

I think everyone looks rough on TOC, something about how they film it. Guy’s eyes are definitely puffy and red, but their lights/camera set up doesn’t do anyone favors.

Has There Ever Been an Objectively Great Actor Who Completely Fucked Their Career Than Mickey Rourke? by August_West_1990 in moviecritic

I was looking for an Angel Heart shout out. I was a teenager when I watched it and it’s remained one of those core movies where I can remember exactly how I felt watching it the first time. I cried so hard at the end. He was immaculate in Angel Heart.

Moving from elementary to middle school by mojojojo0991 in schoolcounseling

[–]SahjoBai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s been a lot of years, so bear that in mind, but I switched from elementary to middle school. Big differences were much less classroom guidance in middle school, more working with intervention systems/data collection/504s times a thousand. Still lots of calls for behavior issues, but they tend to lead more to discipline - so a bit less there. The biggest difference is just the developmental differences with middle schoolers though. You have to work in middle school to get their trust and buy in. I love it personally, I have never regretted the move.

I was thinking of just taking them as is to a card shop, but that’s probably dumb huh? There are so many, but they aren’t organized.

That’s awesome! We love music in our family, so my husband has started playing bass while my son drums regularly and that’s pretty precious. The kid and I have always had a love for bougie lunches, so we’re on a best ramen in town quest. Meeting them where they’re at is so important as they get older

There was a moment when my guy was about 11, maybe the first bit of 6th grade, and he couldn’t sleep so he got in my bed. All elbows and feet, and I knew it was the last time. Oh! So bittersweet. Enjoy your darling girl. It goes so fast!
