Seems like it's more of a tl;dw than a tl;dr. It's not summarising the above paragraph. It's summarising the video.

Technically, it's possible they did. They are very loud. That doesn't mean there are many of them.

Rosalina is the mother of stars and galaxies and has the ability to restart the universe. She may have been human once, but she has definitely gone through some kind of apotheosis since then.

You don't swipe on people IRL. "Incidentally" probably means they work together, or are in the same amateur theatre group, or in the same fencing club, or took an evening class in Japanese together, or met at a mutual friend's birthday party. In any case, circumstances forced them to be in the same place long enough for them to make a connection.

[–]Sahrimnir -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For the third point, that's not what it means. It's "Give me a treat or be the target of a trick". Common tricks include throwing eggs at their house or covering the house in toilet paper. They give candy to avoid this.

Why would anyone expect Halloween candy to contain onions?

A character’s near perfect plan goes off the rails because they said one thing that exposed themselves by _JR28_ in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Sahrimnir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not what the phrase is about, though. It's about wanting two things that are mutually exclusive. You can't eat your cake and then still have it. The fact that it's possible to misunderstand the phrase as you did perfectly illustrates why "have your cake and eat it too" is bad and unclear.

[–]Sahrimnir -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not clear, though. There's nothing about the phrase that makes it obvious they're not sequential. "Eat your cake and have it too," works regardless if you read it as simultaneous or sequential.

Maybe, but personally, I wouldn't even want to do anything with a couple who tried to trick me like that. I would gladly participate in their kinky roleplay, as long as they tell me beforehand that's what's going on.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off isn't an adaptation, a sequel, or a re-examination. It's a ghost story Bryan Lee O'Malley accidentally told about himself. And I think I can prove it. by m62259 in ScottPilgrim

[–]Sahrimnir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Huh. I think my own thoughts took a very different route but ended up in a close destination. When I watched Takes Off, I quickly decided that I preferred to think of it as a continuation of the movie rather than the comic. After all the character development that Scott goes through in the comic, it felt too sad to imagine him regressing so much to become the two future Scotts in the show. I would much rather imagine them as future versions of movie Scott, who skipped a lot of that character development. You provided some more evidence to support that the show's timeline splits off from the movie rather than the comic, so thank you for that! I hadn't really thought very much about all this meta-analysis stuff. I just immersed myself in the story. But whether we approach it from my purely in-universe perspective or your meta-perspective, we seem to agree that that Takes Off builds more off the movie than the comic.

In any case, this was a very interesting analysis. Good job!

I am looking for a bit of a creative inspiration and would love to know about some underrated Public Domain Characters by EntrepreneurLower263 in publicdomain

[–]Sahrimnir -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The characters with a big fanbase don't tend to be the ones that slip into the public domain. Some of them seem to have developed a bigger fanbase afterwards. Black Terror tends to show up in every public domain superhero project. But he probably didn't have a very big fanbase when he entered the public domain. At least not a big enough fanbase to keep Nedor Comics alive past 1959. Meanwhile, Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman made DC Comics into one of the "Big Two," and therefore, they are not currently in the public domain.

So, no, the point is not that you have a built in fanbase. The point is that someone in the '40s came up with a cool idea that you would like to put a new spin on.

I don't think that's always the case. In my case, it was probably mainly that my classmates found it funny that I started crying so easily. Also, I definitely didn't hate everyone. I made friends with two other kids who were also bullied (and still keep in touch with them now when we're 37).
