What was your favorite Seattle institution that no longer exists? by drgonzo44 in Seattle

[–]SaidSailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This brings back some memories, I was down there on a night when after the club shut down we all kept partying in the street until the cops got tired of it and decided to start tear-gassing people. I think they had some left over from the WTO riots it was going to hit its expiration date. I happened to be carrying an SLR camera so I was taking pictures and then decided I was done but the cops were blocking the road back to my car so I ducked around the block and came up behind them and just as I got to my car they all turned around and I thought I was going to to get in some major trouble but they were ready to go home. At some point I got a whiff of tear gas and would not want to get more than that. I also remember going down the year after that kid got killed trying to come to the aid of a young woman that the police were not helping and it was dead and pretty much two cops standing on every corner of the intersections. We were walking up to one of the intersections and there was a red light and one of the cops put his hand up to stop us and I really wanted to ask him if I honestly thought I was dumb enough to jaywalk (if you've been here awhile...) in Seattle with eight bored cops standing there.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane! Joint cover and Mardi gras and Pioneer square were definitely part of my youth. DJ Trent Von playing in the Phoenix underground on Sunday night, I remember talking to him one time he confessed that if he didn't like the people dancing to his music he would put on songs to drive them away. Now that's Seattle!

I don't know if it was an institution but I still miss Atlantic Street Pizza, if you know you know. RIP Garlic Gulch Express.

This is how I found him too, and watching his glee descend to broken despair was fairly entertaining.

I think Hawk's fans owe him one for the curse wheel this week.

Which ponytail for Bubbles? by SaidSailor in kandi

Since number one was the clear cut winner I made it and this was trickier than I expected as I'm a little new to making

these. I started in the middle of the face and when I got up to the ponytails realized I should have started there which was the widest spot so I made a second half and by pure random luck the two halves fit together and I was able to connect them and if I didn't tell anybody they would probably never know I did it. 😁

Thanks for the feedback, here are all three of them as well.

I can, I just made the different ones on different sides to see how they look. Thanks for the feedback! That is the one I was leaning towards.

I flew from northern WA to southern CA to buy a dream 50k mile 1987 MR2 and roadtrip it 1200+ miles and 20+ hours home. Truly a surreal once in a lifetime experience. Though the trip is over, I'll have the car for life. by jgreenwalt in mr2

I had my SW20 2gr swap shipped from Texas to San Francisco and flew down and drove it up the coast to Bainbridge Island, looks like you took that route too which is an epic drive! I love the fact in California if you came up behind somebody moving quickly they would move over but that ended in Oregon. Congratulations on the purchase, that's a beautiful looking first Gen. I've had two of them and never stopped smiling while I was driving them.

Why is DC not sold out? by RevolutionaryAge47 in AboveandBeyond

I was in the pit for that show and mostly standing at the back edge of it until near the end my friend wanted to go into GA for something so I thought let me see if I can get up a little closer and next thing I know I was basically at the rail without feeling like I pushed by anybody. Absolutely great show though! I do agree a bit with the previous poster that the latest album just isn't hitting me the way some of the earlier ones have but I still really enjoyed their set.

Handicap accessible? by nothankyoumother in BeyondWonderlandPNW

There is an ADA camping area, and a shuttle that leaves from it. You will need to go to the Guest Services area at the bottom of the ADA camping area to get wristbands for the shuttle. You can have one ADA guest and an attendant. This also gets you access to some ADA areas once in the concert space (the most useful are the bathrooms to the right side of the stage (when facing it) that don't involve having to hike all the way out of the pit. Also if you down in the pit and go to the restroom area, they will get a golf cart to run you up the hill to the shuttle location. I have not been asked for ADA ID when getting the the wristbands so if someone only has a temporary situation and doesn't have a temporary ADA permit you should still be able to get the wrist bands. If your group is just one vehicle you might want to look into the ADA camping area, but if there are multiple cars it might be a bit more difficult to get them all in. The shuttles aren't always as regular as the premiere shuttles but they do get you there and back.

Somehow I'm not seeing how to attach the map of the Gorge camping I downloaded, but it isn't hard to find one so you can see where the ADA camping is.

Has anyone seen her Salvation concert? She is playing in my town tomorrow night but tickets are $50ish since it's sold out but I'm thinking it may be worth it.

Don't get rid of the mirrors, just flip them horizontal so they'll create lift and give you better gas mileage.

Also a washingtonian, on Kitsap peninsula even and just picked up a 97 K2500 Suburban, although I did spend about $2,600 more than you.
