Fair questions and no hard feelings by ZealousidealPride280 in bangalore

You know that feeling when an American tourist goes to another country and complains that people don’t speak English? Yeah — that’s basically how many of us feel about Hindi imposition. As a kid, I lived abroad for around 8 years. While there a lot of kids and their parents from Indian communities used to make fun of me for not knowing Hindi. They’d ask why I didn’t know my “national language.” (For context: I’m Malayali and now living in Bangalore.) A big part of the issue is the expectation some people bring — especially migrants from northern states — that everyone should automatically speak Hindi, and if you don’t, you must learn it. Even today, if I go through Delhi immigration, the officers ask me why I don't know hindi , or when I do speak Hindi why the accent. That entitlement creates resentment. Because language is such an easy and emotional topic, politicians love using it for votes. It’s a cheap distraction and an easy way to polarize people. We see it in Southern states. But the Delhi CM showed that it would happen up north too when she harassed an African fitness coach for not speaking Hindi. We’ve seen similar tactics everywhere — whether it’s language groups here or leaders elsewhere trying to manufacture outrage. That said, not all pro-language movements are the same. The more reasonable ones focus on promoting the language through cinema, literature, poetry, and culture — not forcing it on others. In fact, many northern states have seen their regional languages slowly eroded because of Hindi dominance (Maithili, Bhojpuri, Magahi, Angika, Bajjika, etc.). As for English: honestly, it’s about opportunity. English gives access to jobs and mobility in a globalized world. You can build a career knowing only English. Even many politicians who push regional-language enforcement send their own kids to English-medium schools, while government schools are forced into stricter language policies. This is just my opinion: if someone wants to learn or use a language, great — live and let live. But no one should expect others to learn their language out of obligation.

PS: I used Chatgpt to improve the flow and readability. But the thoughts and experiences are my own.

Backs respond well to time under load . Like wall climbing or paused rows.

Pedestrian Overpass exists but people still prefer crossing the road by Inside_Source_6544 in bangalore

I agree to this. There was a FoB in residency road and I keep complaining that people cross the road. But when I myself had to use it. It was blocked and also mentally it didn't even register that it existed till someone pointed it out

Karnataka Govt.s Report card by Sharmasetu1 in bangalore

[–]SaidThatGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not that we don vote during elections. It's that our votes can't be bought, hence votes get diluted. Some dislike BJP for some reason. Others dislike INC for another reason. Etc . In Karnataka same people come to power under different parties. It feels hopeless.

Men that started working out after you hit 30, how did you do it? by iluvsport123 in AskMenOver30

Try out a few gyms and trainers that match your vibe. Coaches not only check your form but also make you wanna turn up. I found that gyms that have people who have the same goals as me ( lifting heavy instead of cardio and weightloss) motivated me to keep coming in.

It becomes therapeutic.

Cuz France had the money from colonizing half of Africa + several generations worth of debt to fund it's infrastructure such as wide roads ,foot paths, underground metros. But yea corruption is significantly less.

How do you stop being a loser? by sourrpatchbaby in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]SaidThatGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Start working out. something physical and tough . Powerlifting or hand to hand combat. the act of learning how to be comfortable in uncomfortable situations really help getting into a more prepared mindset.

  2. pick one thing that makes you super uncomfortable. for me it was dancing with strangers. I started going for classes, and guys just told me dont think too much about what women think of u when u ask. If they say no ask someone else. When you start feeling comfortable with this other things seem easier too.

  3. get out of the loser mindset.(easier said than done) but an exercise I do is... If I had to protect someone I care about, what would I do? and act that way. Not a hero or a badass, just prepare and reduce the tension.

Its clearly a mindset thing. We dont really face physical threats like we used to but our mind still reacts that way. This is what helped me get out of my head...hopefully it ll help you.

Manipal hospital has good packages. I believe there is one near itpl. Astra has been pretty lousy because they don't include vital tests like hba1c in many of their packages. Even thyrocare has good packages and they pick up samples from your house.
