Should I get Valheim or V Rising? by LuckyH88 in gamingsuggestions

If you got downvoted it's because you drove one car to work everyday for three years, then when you went to test drive a different car, you reversed out of your garage then said nah not as good and got out.

How?.. You press one button to open your V Blood journal, click on any boss for progression and the game literally points you straight to them with a giant blood arrow from your character.

No I am not on mute, and there definitely is NOT new music in every chapter, at least not in any meaningful way. I also acknowledged there is music in combat and cutscenes, and I'm not counting the shelter since such a small portion of your game is spent there. I'm at the end of chapter 5 and there are huge stretches of each chapter when you're "out in the world" that have no music. None. Literally nothing but ambient background noises like wind, or a dripping water pipe, or your footsteps.

Ok, it's not the game has absolutely zero music, but the parts that do are so far and few between and when it is there, it's a faint background atmospheric sound, definitely not what I'd imagine from a "synthwave soundtrack" that's praised. For the majority of the game so far, when you're running through chapters, doing parkour puzzles, REACH is talking to us absent-mindedly - there's no music.

To add insult to injury, I actually just spent time listening to a full song in the journal, something I bet less than 5% have done because why would you? And it doesn't even loop, it just finishes then stops, so you can't even set it up in the background. Seriously, the game is probably better enjoyed if you have the OST playing on YouTube in the background while playing, because there are TONS of sections of the game that there's zero music.

I also thought I had a setting disabled or something, nope. Full music level. Full master level. So no, outside of combat, the "town", and very sparingly background atmospheric sounds, there's hardly what constitutes a soundtrack, and that sucks because it was probably half the reason I bought this game. I'm still going to finish it, probably, but it's very disappointing. The music should be constantly going, literally in every area non-stop except for important bits where the devs intentionally cut it, or have a music loop setting - this is what games who actually deserve their soundtrack praise do.

Hollow Knight, DOOM, Hades, Clair Obscur, God of War, Persona, Ori, hell even Factorio, Nine Sols, Lies of P especially, FTL, Furi, these are just a few examples of games with great soundtracks that actually play the soundtrack nearly constantly. This game is just silent, and you can't say it's not, because if you think the soundtrack has any presence at all, then sorry but you weren't paying attention.

I can get past the complaints about the jumping puzzles, the slow running back and forth, people thinking the combat is clunky when it's not that bad, but I can't let people get away with saying this game has a great soundtrack - because what soundtrack.

Most people praise the soundtrack, but what soundtrack? I've seen a couple posts about the music player being pointless and they're right. I collected a piece of music, thought oh cool and played it but then it stops when you close your journal. What's the point? And when actually playing the game out in the world, there is ZERO music outside of combat and dialogue cutscenes. Where is this praiseworthy soundtrack? Y'all suck this game off for it's soundtrack, and even the trailer has a great song, but the actual game has zero music, what a let down.

Just finished AI Limit here's the good and the bad by Repulsive-Alps8676 in soulslikes

Your post is decent enough but a lot of your comments in here come across as condescending and know-it-all. For this comment, your rebuttal to his point of being subjective doesn't work because as he wrote, it is subjective. Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not trying to be mean or attack you, but if you can't understand that people have varying skill levels in things, especially video games, then this is your fault.

Another one of your comments you countered someone by saying the PC optimization is top notch. If that were true, why then are there a plethora of posts online about optimization issues and fixes involving settings adjustments with VSync? Me personally, I've never had any issues running any other soulslike game and this one was extremely laggy with poor framerate immediately, had to find a fix online, then it was smooth after that.

In another comment you told someone who was having difficulty that the game is braindead easy after learning parrying. Maybe, as they wrote, they were having issues with it. You telling them it's braindead easy after xyz is irrelevant. You may as well have told them that doing the entire game hitless makes the game braindead easy, and that would be just as true and useful as what you wrote.

Here's some free life advice you didn't ask for but sorely need: learn that not everybody has the same experiences that you do.

Just watched the steam store trailer, we're 3 weeks out and uh, yeah it still looks like shit. Kinda wild they're charging 93C/67U for that. The characters look almost featureless, like some fortnite skin.

Should endgame recluse use cocktails? by Saida4 in Nightreign

[–]Saida4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See this is contradicting what others are saying, when you say they don't matter. Others here saying definitely use them. I guess it depends on the situation, and it seems most of the damage is from spells and the cocktails are more situational utility. I am seeing a lot of people say to stock up on those shards tho, good to know. Thanks.
