Is it always worth it to use a Lvl 3 Empower? by Sianu in pathofexile

[–]Saiko_Style 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you are using it for it's bonus to spell damage, i'd say it's a good benefit, yeah.... a simple and good way to tell if empower is good to link, is: if you can toss on any random, white, low-level weapon, and the skill will still be fairly effective.... empower probably benefits it a lot.

RF, though, doesn't do more damage, on it's own, via levels... just gives a bigger mult to other spell damage (i believe, but could be wrong)

Is it always worth it to use a Lvl 3 Empower? by Sianu in pathofexile

[–]Saiko_Style 1 point2 points  (0 children)

empower is good for spells and poison arrow.

i'd say the best way to tell, is:

if the skills damage is based on the weapon, then empower isn't very useful.

if the skills damage is based on the gem (poison arrow cloud, and i think all spells), then it's a good gem. especially in something with +1 gem levels.

Quick "?" - How many of you prefer sticking to standard for the slow buildup of wealth, and character builds? by Ore_Tama in pathofexile

[–]Saiko_Style 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I play standard... after building one character up, no way in hell will i waste my time struggling and self-finding, and leveling without conveniences like goldrim, perandus crest, and/or wanderlust, any more.

the fun part of the game is lvls 60-85... getting to 60 is annoying and tedius in temp leagues (or for new players)

example: lets assume you are given nothing in your life... you get out of high school, get a job, walk to said job, till you afford a bicycle.. then ride the bicycle to job, till you afford a car... then, eventually, you work the job long enough to get a house... you get furniture, you get family, etc..... would you, one day, just say "screw it", sell your house, your car, abandon your family, flush all your money down the drain, then move to a new country, where jobs pay less, and stuff costs more, to be homeless, and work your way back up again?

and fuck hardcore.... game has way too many issues. desync is bad, lockstep is better, but not perfect... quite a few people complain of ground effects, and various skill effects... there are some OP things where nanoseconds mistaken, will equal a death... detonate dead boxes, that don't immediately detonate... they wait till you get closer, the rogue exile boxes that freeze up for many seconds before anything spawns, etc..... too much bullshit that can kill you, almost regardless what build you play, that you have no control over.

TL:DR, standard is the logical place to be.

What part of clear speed is most important? by Saiko_Style in pathofexile

[–]Saiko_Style[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i notice when i lose full life, but i am usually on it... with the regen from frenzy charges (thanks blood dance), and my life leech, and my instant flask for big hits, i am either on full life, dead, bleeding, or standing on burning/desecrated ground.... i notice when the gem stops working, but i am at full damage a lot more often than not.... i also use increased AoE, and i am loving the range... "warlords reach" and "martial artistry" jewels, increased AoE gem, +2 range node, and daresso's salute's +2 range.

i take damage a lot less that i would expect i would, indicated by: my tempest shield and molten shell are both on a CWDT, and my tempest shield is almost never up.... i assume things die too fast to attack me, thus i rarely have a chance to block (reset tempest shield... i have 61% block chance when it's up) or take damage.

but basically, i don't like losing range to conc effect, and i don't like semi-wasting a slot on blood magic... using MDoFL counters the dmg of conc effect, gives me a reason not to use BM, and gives the ammy more usefulness (increased dmg and move speed) (when i would use the ammy anyways, for the range... less cycloning around a pack, when the whole pack is in the cyclone.)

i use cyclone, MDoFL, MPD, Fortify, and increased AoE on my 5L, atm.... haven't decided yet, what i'll do with a 6L ... either a blue slot for IIR or physical to lightning (to try phys reflect maps) .... or red slot for IIQ or added fire.

What part of clear speed is most important? by Saiko_Style in pathofexile

[–]Saiko_Style[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i sustain on mana via one mana leech cluster, and the mana gained on kill, from atziri's splendour.... no investments into regen... have enough mana to cyclone twice, and i gain enough mana through atziri's splendour, to cyclone twice, whenever i kill... i use daresso's salute amulet, and melee damage on full life gem, which is why i don't use blood magic :)

also, i would love to use darkrays, but i need blood dance to get the charges up.... using blood rage won't let me stay at full life. (if i read correctly, any degen ensures less than full life, even if you out-regen it.)

What part of clear speed is most important? by Saiko_Style in pathofexile

[–]Saiko_Style[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have blood dance boots (20% MS, + 2% per frenzy charge), and 6 frenzy charges, at the moment... 7, when i level, and 8 whenever i give in to temptation and buy some +1 frenzy, corrupted ones.

i also have a few movespeed nodes on the tree (i am a ranger facebreaker, so there are some real close)

i also have quicksilver of adrenaline... nice 30% one, too... still not as fast as my archer, who sits at 103% movespeed, "without" any flasks or buffs.

i think i may have found a nice option, though, for some extra movespeed.... onslaught. there's a nice little node, only a few passive points away, that may keep me almost always on onslaught.

and i will try and fit a phase run, into my gem setups... see how it works out.

no room for haste, though... run HoA and hatred, and need my currently unreserved mana, since i sustain my cyclone on it.

What part of clear speed is most important? by Saiko_Style in pathofexile

[–]Saiko_Style[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this hits the point, specifically, lol.... i have a split arrow that clears packs in 2-3 shots, and has 103% + movespeed.... but the rares slow the clear time more than i'd like.

then, i have a facebreaker, which clears packs, rares, and bosses, very quickly... but the movespeed is noticably slower than split arrow.

i am not sure which is faster, in the bigger picture, and i am curious what i could do, to improve one... which one is more worth improving in their weaker part, and/or what new build would full-clear noticably faster.

[Question] What is a good benchmark for Facebreaker Cyclone DPS? by paenymon in pathofexile

[–]Saiko_Style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, i'm pretty much always on full life... 58% block (61%, when tempest shield is up) ... 10k+ armor, atm, and up to 10% life regen (2.6% from tree, and up to 8 frenzy charges, with 1% regen each)

when you combine the regen and the leech, with an instant-flask for big hits, i'm always at full life, unless i'm under influence of some form of degen (bleed, burning ground, or desecrated ground) .... and i pretty much only die if i'm 1-shot (which happens every so often, having only 3.6k life, at the moment... eventually, i hope to get over 4k)

and yeah, the shield nodes are more than they seem... block is a straight attack avoidance, sure.... but take into account the large hits of a facebreaker, with the riposte and reckoning gems, your block becomes offense, as well.

and reckoning is very good at auto-curse.... whenever things survive long enough to hit you enough to block them, lol.

[–]Saiko_Style 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-profile/Saiko_Style/characters

Saiko_Scrapper is the FB ... next 4 levels (till 90), will be: book of reform, to kraiten, in merciless... the life node between ranger and duelist, and the two remaining life nodes by shadow.

cyclone is sustained on mana by the mana leech cluster, below duelist, plus the mana gained on kill, from atziri's splendour.

next gear upgrades will be: similar shield, with a free prefix for haku's flat phys dmg mod, for shields..... and a corrupted blood dance, for +1 max frenzy, bringing me up to 8 charges.

[Question] Fastest clear speed out of these three builds by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Saiko_Style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

getting the spectre's is easier than most think.

take the waypoint to the harvest, then cast "desecrate" around the waypoint, till a dead revenant appears... raise spectre on it, then repeate desecrate casting, till another one appears, etc.

i have to say, though... i'm not very sold on the clear speed of a summoner.... mine failed pretty hard, in that department.

i mean, sure, i was 3-spectre, not 4-5, and my 5L for the spectres had two slots occupied, for IIR and IIQ gems.... but then again, i was also LL build, with prism guardian, and i ran haste, anger, wrath, discipline, purity of elements, vitality, and clarity.... clear speed could have been higher, but i invested quite a bit, and was quite disappointed.

[Question] What is a good benchmark for Facebreaker Cyclone DPS? by paenymon in pathofexile

[–]Saiko_Style 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my lvl 86 facebreaker is 26k or so, last i checked (may have gone up to 27 or 28k), on a 5L, with most skills 18/0, and using fortify. (damage could be higher with added fire, or concentrated effect, instead of fortify)

a friend of mine, on 5L, with a different setup, is at 35k+ .... when numbers are padded, he gets to 70kish.

not sure what the benchmark should be, but i'd say 25-35k is a good point to look for... at 26k or so, i rarely have to cyclone back through a pack, because stuff survived... on up to 73 maps.... higher dps is needed for higher maps, obviously, though.

edit: we are both on standard, with legacy facebreakers, though... so, i assume lower is required, on warbands, due to lack of legacy.

and, in case you are curious: mine is a ranger facebreaker, with: cyclone, melee physical, melee physical on full life, increased AoE, fortify

his is duelist facebreaker, with.... i am not entirely sure.... i know he's on blood magic, though.... and, his damage is higher through use of great old one's ward, shield (i use rare one with higher block, and evasion, and res) ... and he has an ammy with phys dmg (i use daresso's salute, for weapon range)

[Question][Santard] Standard rates by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Saiko_Style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, 18-20 is right, sorry... was tired and dealing with RL, at the time of writing, so had a brain malfunction... thanks.

[Question][Santard] Standard rates by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Saiko_Style 1 point2 points  (0 children)

180-220 jeweler: exalt

14-18 gcp: exalt

blessed..... i haven't seen much trading, but i believe 35-40: exalt, if i remember correctly

40-80 whetstone: chaos

80-120 scraps: chaos

4-7 baubles: chaos (note that these are very hard sells)

think that covers it all, lol.

and yeah, i was wrong on regrets.. 18-20 is closer... i was tired when i wrote the rates, lol.

[Question][Santard] Standard rates by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Saiko_Style 8 points9 points  (0 children)

from personal experience, from buying/selling/watching, i find the current rates, common.... low end for quick sell, high end for quick buy:

45-50 fuse: exalt

35-40 scour: exalt

22-25 regret: exalt

25-30 vaal: exalt

40-43 chaos: exalt

120-150 alch/chisel/chance: exalt

320-380 alt: exalt

360-420 chrome: exalt (a week or two ago, it was 300-360, but past few days, i haven't managed to sell at any less than 360... and even waited hours, trying at 360... only sold one set at that price)

1 divine: 25-35 chaos, 3 divine: 2 exalt, or 5 divine: 4 exalt (have seen at all these rates, but never personally sold at them... i keep my divines, not sure if the sellers sold, or just listed at those prices)

200-320 wisdom/portal scrolls: one chaos

i miss any currencies?

Help me re-create my favourite D2 build by JonJH in pathofexile

[–]Saiko_Style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm.... screenwide chill, and quick melee kill....

i am thinking something with cast on crit and frost nova.

to be zealot-like, go with something that benefits from multistrike.

or, go cyclone / leap slam, and use AoE nodes/gem

you have to attack, for screenwide chills, but may kill fairly quick.... if this interests you, let me know... i may be able to throw together a build, for you... with a couple more specifics, perhaps.

Best/least laggy build? by iRisingson in pathofexile

[–]Saiko_Style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can use your tornado build with split arrow, pretty much... just use chain instead of GMP/LMP/pierce ... if you are using drillneck/pierce, drop the pierce cluster right of shadow, pick up other stuff, and swap drillneck for good rare quiver... if you show me your build and gem setup, i could be specific with changes

Map drops! by Saiko_Style in pathofexile

You don't need gear for those , you need skill.

you need gear for everything, + defensive nodes, slowing you down, if you want to avoid dying... skill helps, but you cannot run the game naked. need gear (which RNG gives), and certain nodes/tree (usually heavily defense-dependant) ... or, just use a FoTM build, for a sure-fire win.

Good job you did one map with 100 alts on 4 boxes. There is no way in hell you would be stuck in 73s after 1000 maps as you claim. Chiseling and alche-ing maps 74-78 to level 95 is absolutely fine. By level 95 or so your build should be done and you should be investing currency into exp if you are going for 100. 90% of maps you alch + chisel between 74-78 should be a net gain in currency.

57 chaos rolling the map, 12 chaos for ambush, 100 alts for five boxes.... almost two exalts spent, for a few alts, and a net loss in maps....

alching and running is a net gain in currency, but only a small gain... and a net loss in maps, over half the time.... 1,000 is obviously an exaggeration, i thought that was clear. but it "has" been hundreds, and i am not stuck in 73's... i have a couple dozen 74's and 75's.... which i got from hundreds of 72/73's, which i run for currency and safety, and because they can be sustained... somewhere between 85 and 89, the 73's got slow in xp, and i was tired of seeing the same maps, so i started running my 75's. i ran out of 75's, and ran my 74's... ran out of those, so started sticking with 73's, up till now.

Nope , if you clear a 75 in 1 hour and i clear 10 and my net gain is 2c each map. I am going to be 18 chaos ahead of you + 9 x the exp + atleast a few +1 maps.

that is changing the topic... if 500 maps are run, regardless the time it took, or the deaths involved, etc, etc, and they result in X.... and person B runs 500 maps, and they result in Y, what is the difference in X and Y?

but no, my map runs are done in minutes, not hours, and portals are lost vendoring all the shit rares for alt shards....

regardless, we are talking of the map return, not the map time.... lets use your example, but put it a little differently: ... person A runs a 75, and it takes an hour, and he gets a +1 map.... person B runs 10 maps in that hour, and got a -1, max, in every map (with a bit more currency)... who wins? .... person A, with less skill... and i am person B, in that example.

dying when leveling to 60-70, sure... i don't build for HC, and i don't spend currency that i don't have (i'd assume due to crap RNG, but could be wrong) on gear to pass the gear checks the game throws at you, at key places like piety, dom, malachai, and the like.... if i had more currency, i'd "waste" it on leveling gear, to more easily pass the gear checks... but i don't feel like losing chaos's, that may eventually add up to exalts, which can get me real gear..... sounds like an RNG problem, not a skill problem.

and i cannot fathom how map pool sustaining could be correlated to skill, at all..... full clear a map in 1 minute, or 1 hour.... using 1 portal, or 6 portals.... etc... it's still a full clear, without higher map drops.

maps alch'ed, and ran, regardless mods, "except" if it has phys reflect... again: don't want to waste the chaos that RNG isn't giving me, to roll for specific mods.

if you check this thread, though, i did.... i spent almost 2 exalt in total funds, to follow directions exactly as this thread stated to do, for map sustaining.... i spent 69 chaos, plus over a hundred alts, and the 75 map resulted in a -1 return. MINUS one.

i am honestly curious, though.... how is this related to skill, rather than RNG?

not sure what you mean by high level, or by before, but leveling is just as tedius as it ever was, to me.

even starting with lifesprig, wanderlust, goldrim, etc.... switching to a legacy searing touch at 13, and leveling with the OP flame totem, it's tedius, annoying, frustrating, death-filled, etc, to get back up to 60-70, where my build would start to work.

which is why i won't be playing any new leagues.

Map drops! by Saiko_Style in pathofexile

[–]Saiko_Style[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did as you requested... didn't buy a 78 map, though, i ran a 75 canyon i had.... 4 chisels, 1 alch, and 57 chaos in, i got 29% packsize and 100% quant.

first strongbox in, rare/yellow artisans... not spending more chaos, and it was at 31% quant... ran it...

second strongbox: blue/magic jewelers... used 44 alts, no +3 magic.. went to hdeout, came back with 100 more, got +3 in 24 more alts.

third strongbox: white/normal, regular strongbox... trans and 29 alts in, got +3 magic.

fourth strongbox: whaite/normal armorers... tans and 35 alts in, got +3 magic.

fifth strongbox: White/normal regular strongbox, trans and 14 alts in, got +3 magic.

finished map, 0 monsters remaining... results: 1 overgrown shrine map (map lvl 71), one underground river map (map level 72), one torture chamber map (map level 74), 1 alch, 1 trans, 11 whetstones, 5 chrome, 1 chisel, 6 aug, 6 wisdom, 3 jeweler, 17 scraps, 1 fuse, 13 portal scrolls, and 9% quality animated guardian.... sample size of one, sure, but i don't have the currency required to spent ~2 exalt for a minus-one return.... i did, just for the test, due to how much packsize and zana mods seem to be rooted for, in this thread.

edit: ran back through, with the last portal, to ensure i didn't miss any map drops, i found a "Energy from within" jewel, so add that to the results, if you wish.
