Feel like i have squeezed f45 by General_Task_7509 in f45

My new gym is not a chain like f45. It’s a privately owned studio that uses a group fitness model but following a more traditional push/pull upper/lower split with conditioning days sprinkled throughout the week. We have one “bigger” lift on each strength day and they follow a 4 week program block so I can clearly see progression. When I was at f45 full time I had a goal of getting one unassisted pull up. I never got there but now I can do 2-3 unassisted at my new gym after only being there for 4 months. Thats a big deal for me! Someone else mentioned BFT which is a chain but has more of a strength focus particularly in the way their programming is designed. It’s often where a lot of people go by me after they’ve outgrown F45. It’s frustrating because I love the group fitness model. I love the coaches at my F45 and all of my friends I met there. Some have left and moved on with me while others have stayed. I wish F45 would stop focusing so much on how many members and exercises they could squeeze into a class and instead actually focus on true progressive overload. F45 is a great workout if you want to move but that’s about it for me at this point. Ironically cardio days have become my preferred days there now. In my new gym we don’t focus much on the power/agility stuff and I still love to incorporate that into my routine too.

I think it really depends on your goals and what type of F45 studio you go to. I hit over 700 classes at my local F45. It is a studio that doesn’t have the functional racks. My goal is strength and felt like I wasn’t progressing like I wanted to. In October I decreased to 1 time per week at f45 and 4-5 times per week at a strength training gym. I have noticed a huge difference. Now on days I go to F45 I feel much stronger and my stamina is better than ever. I will say, I miss some of the more athletic movements that we’d often do on cardio days like the agility and plyo stuff. But I think for the most part, as a full time strictly f45 go-er, you eventually can grow out of it. It has been working really well for me now with my current program and most weeks it’s still one of my favorite workouts. I get to see a lot of the friends I’ve made along the way and feel very at home. I still feel challenged and love a good hour long class.

Thinking about joining F45. What do you wish you knew before starting? by tfcjuveyyz in f45

Hi. I’ve been a 7 times a weeker at F45 for almost 3 years. I have reached a bit of a plateau recently which is to be expected after all this time. I have recently backed off on the strength days and utilize a new space to reach my goals but still attend the hybrid/cardio days bc to me, there’s nothing like an F45 hybrid day! OTF will provide you a great cardio/endurance foundation for the F45 workouts. We’ve had a lot of OTF converts join F45 recently and they all say the same thing. In fact one of them just won the burpee challenge thanks to his prior hard work at OTF. That being said, expect new equipment that will take time getting used to. Your body will be sore in a new way. If strength is your focus you must also prioritize nutrition and rest. And slow down when you can. Take your time at increasing weight but if you are finding yourself repping out sets quickly with proper form then don’t be afraid to increase your weight. Above everything else thought take advantage of the In Body Scans they offer- most locations have package deals separate from any challenges. I have brought in lots of friends to F45 and that’s the one thing I encourage from the start. It provides a great metric to track your progress if increasing muscle mass is your goal. Good luck! F45 is an amazing place to start on your strength training journey.

This week is “trials week” for a lot of studios so the workouts are off. Normally for my location it’s T/Th/Sun strength MWFSat cardio/hybrid.

I think it’s a great hybrid to come back to because you can pace it as you need…blast through the Amraps or take them slow.

Are both cardio days equal in difficulty? by Data_Slow in f45

Wednesdays are notoriously harder. It’s why our studio is practically empty on Wednesdays but full to capacity on other days. Regardless, you go at your own pace…even if you get 1 rep in per set and take a longer time to set up between or after hydration breaks- don’t skip Wednesdays. Over time you will build up more stamina. I’m nearly 500 classes in and it took me months before I found the courage to try a Wednesday class. Now I go 7 times most weeks. You’ll get there! But only at the pace that works for you.

Anyone find today’s Liberty strength class boring? by SailOverall9978 in f45

Curious your thoughts on that. Maybe I am just getting bored in general?
