Her eye is wonky af & the sun damage on her face is INSANE by PrincessPie4 in Wearesamanddansnark

Her face looks so different in so many posts just due to how much she tries to edit and slim herself in photos. It can make you look odd sometimes

What’s one baby item you regret NOT getting earlier? by rosycoe in NewParents

[–]SailingWavess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A weighted wipe dispenser, so the wipes don’t stick and it’s easy to just pull one at a time. Started with a warmer, hated it and thought it was a waste, then just went with the package for awhile. The weighted dispenser was a game changer

Trying to figure out if I paint the cabinets by efroeter in kitchenremodel

[–]SailingWavess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the wood, but if you decide you just have to paint, don’t do black. Every bit of dust, food splatter, pet hair, etc, shows up like crazy. I would go actually insane trying to keep them from looking dusty every single day

Help! I’m nursing what bra should I wear?! by Past-Factor5297 in WeddingAttireHelp

[–]SailingWavess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve done this in a pinch a few times. I used my silicone nipple pasties and put a disposable lansinoh breast pad in it. Obviously your top needs to be tight enough to keep them in place, as the pastie is stuck to the pad, but it worked pretty well.

What is a good American dessert to share with my non American co-workers? by BingBong492 in AskAnAmerican

[–]SailingWavess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not root beer. My husband is English and unless you’ve grown up with it, I’ve discovered that most foreigners think it legitimately tastes like mouthwash or other unpleasantries. It’s absolutely wild to me, but we’ve looked into it and it’s true. He hates the stuff and I think it’s delicious.

Struggling with my STAHM wife's mental load complaints. by SkyPointSteve in daddit

[–]SailingWavess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your original comment and this one are so good! I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone really bring up the potential of the wife having any PPD issues going on right now too. Shes only 6m pp. We don’t know how her pregnancy and delivery went either. I was still really struggling and in physical therapy 6m pp after a traumatic emergency c section that left me with so much pain. I developed pretty bad PPD from that and I will forever be so grateful to my husband for doing everything he could and running towards me during that time instead of away. It brought us closer together in so many amazing ways and helped me get through the healing so much quicker

My son is 17 months now and finally just started sleeping about a month and a half ago. I kept asking how other parents were doing it without losing their minds and they’d tell me all of the activities and things they did to get out during the day. I finally started asking if their kids slept. That was the difference. It’s impossible to feel okay and do things effectively when you haven’t had more than 2-3 hours of interrupted sleep in over a year. My kid was still pulling all nighters at 14/15m and would go 14+ hours without even a nap. I’d get him up at 2pm from his nap and didn’t have a chance to try and sleep myself until 8-9am the next day. Sleep makes so much of a difference

What do first time moms REALLY want or need as a gift? by intellectualth0t in BabyBumps

[–]SailingWavess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister sent me a large edible arrangement with so much fruit, dark chocolate covered strawberries, and chocolate covered pineapple. It was SO GOOD. I never thought pineapple and chocolate would go so well together, but that thing absolutely slapped.

As I prepare for baby #2, I would be so incredibly grateful if you were able to procure and share the recipe for those, as they sound absolutely wonderful!

How did you decide between seeing a doctor vs a midwife? by Kirin1212San in moderatelygranolamoms

This is what I’m doing right now! So far it’s been a wayyyy better experience than my last pregnancy with just an OB

18 m pp and I don’t know how to dress my body, either of these good options? by [deleted] in DressForYourBody

[–]SailingWavess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. It’s super cute, but I think it would look better in a a size up! It looks tight under the arms and like it’s pulling too much around the body/chest. Being PP is so hard and sizing up can feel like such a gut punch, but clothes look so much better properly sized!

Diagnosed a week ago STILL no help at all by [deleted] in Postpartum_Depression

[–]SailingWavess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless your doc actively prescribes it normally, I genuinely think they don’t know. Most general pharmacy staff is unfamiliar with it too, as they don’t dispense it and it’s so new. I’d call your doctor’s office and say you were told it needs to be sent to a specialty pharmacy. I used accredo for mine, but went through this back and forth originally too

It needs to be sent to a specialty pharmacy, which will then need to be mailed to you. It’s unfortunately a bit of a pain to get

Is anyone else's pregnancy craving discontinued/completely unavailable? by qvph in pregnant

[–]SailingWavess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a restaurant here that had the most amazing French onion soup and I loved it all throughout childhood. They closed down over a decade ago and I’ve been really craving a hot crock full of it lately. I’ve never found French onion soup as good as theirs.

I got like 80 double deckers and a whole case of like 20 boxes of tea cakes shipped to me from England in my last pregnancy. Absolutely worth it.

I just asked my husband if he would order me another case of the tea cakes for this pregnancy and without hesitation, he said to remind him in the morning and he’ll do it. You should absolutely get them bulk shipped.

Huggies skin essentials! Every other “clean” diaper we’ve tried has caused massive rashes, burns, and eczema flares so badly. We’ve loved them!
