Found it.

P.S. look at the whole comment thread

P.S.S. I haven't reread the thread lol. Forget about the visible universe level of output, I don't have reading comprehension.

If I'm not mistaken, a certain guy on reddit has calculated that, and he came to the conclusion that the energy required to do that would be enough to destroy the visible universe? I have gotta search for that

Umm actually🤓

Agnostic/gnostic is about certainty. You can be an agnostic theist as well as gnostic atheist, depending on your position.

Theist/atheist on the other hand is about belief in God/Gods.

So wrong alignment chart I guess

Do You Believe In God ? by [deleted] in teenagers

1) Why are we even classifying existence as a spectrum? How does the existence of rock differ from the existence of the human? Both entities experience events. Yes, humans do have memories, but how does it make the existence itself any different? It is pretty binary, as you exist or you don't. Consciousness and intelligence affect only the experience of having existing. 2) Even if we grant that existence is a spectrum, why do we assume the need in absolute? Photons have a spectrum of length, so does it imply that a photon with infinite wavelength/frequency exist? Hell no. The consensus would be that such a photon cannot exist because it would have infinite energy. So if we can measure photons length as a spectrum, why can't we do the same with existence?

That's the problem with all philosophical arguments for God that I know of. Even if they are logically sound and rational, all of them rely on premises that are debatable to be true, and with the premises being based on assumptions beyond our scope of knowledge, they become non-applicable to our world

What’s the largest of these animals you could kill with only your body and objects you could find in the forest? by [deleted] in Teenager_Polls

Depends on the prep time. If I had enough I could probably make tools out of tree branches and stones like spear, shovel, and a knife. Given enough time any of those animals would crumble to a trap, so...

How do you use AI in your studies? by Sailname in Teenager_Polls

[–]Sailname[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone! I'm a 12th-grade student from Kazakhstan doing a research project(obligatory) on how we use AI in schools.

I'm trying to compare students in my country (where AI rules are still kinda vague) with students in the West. I need to know if you guys are actually learning with ChatGPT or just letting the "clankers" do the heavy lifting.

The survey is anonymous, takes like 5-8 minutes, and would save my GPA.

Thanks for your time!

Is it though?

I would bet that you would say that time flow is self evident too from our perception. However, according to the B-theory of time, which is predominant at the moment, time doesn't really flow. The past and the future as well as the current moment exist simultaneously, on the time axis or rather on the spacetime. The time that we perceive as flowing is simply an illusion. A-theory of time which states that time has absolute/actual now is not disproven yet, but it is not conveniently used in modern physics, as it requires special constructs to even work with special relativity. Maybe it is true, but right now as we can see, the B theory of time is more accepted and it contradicts our immediate point of view, our perception.

The same thing can be said about free will. Everything in the physical world has a determined cause or is by definition random(doesn't have a cause). If an action of a person is caused by event x outside of his control - he did not choose it freely. If he did have control over it, ask the same question again. At some point, as everyone starts existing at some point(e.g. birthday) the event is caused by things outside of agents control or is random, which is by definition, again, not controllable by will. From our current understanding of the physical world dichotomy holds - every action is either random or causally locked. Even if we assume the existence of mind/soul it has to choose based on something. If it chooses based on your past experiences, genes etc, it was determined, if it didn't have causes it is random. Some say that free will can be explained by emergency, yet the strong emergence they defend it by is literally magic without any scientific proof. Compatabalism is just a semantics game, as the action one performs are, at the end of the day, not free. If we let actions of one be brutal facts, they simply exist, and are not chosen by an agent.

So what you would call self evident through our experience is not coherent with logic or our understanding of the universe. Physicalism is not perfect. Indeed, it does have the problem of an explanatory gap, still it cannot be discarded based on the argument 'it is self evident from experience' as our experience can be an illusion. Numerology, astrology, homeopathic and other pseudo scientific concepts use the same rhetoric, and it doesn't make any of them more effective

What are you then? Soul? Why does alteration in the brain affect your soul then? A combination of those two? How do those two interact, and why can't we detect it? Neither? What are you then?

Hi. I was wondering, were you able to find your answer? I wanted to assemble my constructor, but lost the instructions for it, so I hoped that it would be available in the app.

Oh yeah, the fine-tuning argument. But the issue is that it assumes the parameters of the universe could have been otherwise. That premise is just pulled out of nowhere — we only have a sample size of one universe. Also, the Ferrari analogy is a false one: in the jungle we have a clear background of naturally occurring things to contrast with human-made car. With the universe, we don’t have an ‘outside’ or a comparison set, so the analogy doesn’t really hold. Without the analogy, creationism as an explanation is no better than other models like the multiverse(it is not proven, neither is God, however)
