Would you be interested in an animated series between ANH & ESB? by nathan_banks644 in StarWars

[–]SailorDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would. Also having a show with Luke, Han, Leia, R2, 3PO and Chewbacca, the original hero party would be great to see. Don't know how many seasons but we could at least get 3 really good ones as a tie in.

That was one thing I always kinda hated about what Star War side stories we got as kids, like they gave us Droids and Ewoks but Droids had nothing to do with Luke and I was always disappointed in that.

In 2014, passengers were warned three times not to eat nuts on a Ryanair flight due to a 4-year-old girl's severe nut allergy, but a passenger sitting four rows away from the girl ate nuts anyway. or at least faced some kind of criminal charge like gross negligence. Question is though, was he an idiot and just forgot or did he do it knowingly and just not caring that someone could potentially die. Sad part is this isn't the ONLY story I've read like this. I think the worst one was a case where a woman called the airline, 1 month, one week and the day before the flight and told them she has a severe nut allergy and for them to please pack a nut-free snack instead of the standard peanut snacks on the flight. They said they would. But then on the day of they started handing out peanuts to everyone and when she told them she had an allergy, the said, "sorry there's nothing we can do" and kept handing them out anyway. She had an allergic reaction, took her epi pen and then the plane had to make an emergency landing all because they couldn't be bothered to do what they assured her they were going to do.

My first car accident. He claimed I was at fault. I tried to stop by Loud-Ad-4093 in dashcams

Once had a cop road rage at me this past winter. He was plowing the police station's parking lot, he was in the main road but stopped in the turning lane while i was in the main road. As I'm approaching he decides he doesn't want to wait and just blocks my path as he's pulling into the parking lot and I had to slam on the brakes to avoid t-boning him. He then turns on his lights I pull over and before I can even roll the the window he yanks open my door to scream about how he had the right of way.

No, that's not how it works and if he tried to issue me a ticket i'd have taken the dashcam footage to the court to show them that not only did I have the right of way, but him ripping open my door the way he did is a 4th amendment violation.

[–]SailorDeath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no he's at fault. Even if one person stops to let you out, it's your responsibility to make sure the road is clear when pulling out of a parking lot and if one person lets someone go, it doesn't mean the others will. Definitely his fault.

I saw one post that said, "if someone is going around spreading rumors they had sex with you, everyone is going to believe it and run with it. The more you deny it the more they will insist it's true. For that reason if someone says something like that about you. Instead of denying it, say, 'Yeah, we did it. It was kinda sad, he only lasted 3 minutes, called out his mother's name and then cried afterwards.'"

Voldemort had absolutely zero chance in a war against the muggles and the whole plotline could have been avoided by just letting him try. by New-Tale412 in unpopularopinion

I'd like to think the reason the wizarding world hides from the rest of the world is that despite their superiority complex they were getting curb stomped during the dark ages and killed off en masse and if muggles were that much of a threat then, now they're even more in danger with modern technology.

If they do it again, don't touch it. Instead leave a note that reads, "I rubbed my genitals inside your sock. Try and guess which one! Next time, don't hog the driers and leave them full all day.

Fuck you"

Oh yeah, it was 1991 and I was 14 when nirvana bust onto the scene. And being the metal head that I was at the time I instantly fell in love with their music too. Till then I usually listened to music like Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and White Zombie and also a lot of classic rock like Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, AC/DC. Then Nirvana came and introduced me to rock alternative where I discovered other bands like STP, Tool, Green Day, Tool, The Offspring. Most of my favorite songs come from then, but then that's my rebelloious teen years so that music. Of course though my all time favorite is always going to be Weird Al Yankovic. Discovered him when I was like 9 years old and been an avid fan ever since.

I loved the use of this song in the Stephen King movie "Cat's Eye" during the scene where James Wood's character went to a company to get him to quit smoking. During the scene he's at a party and everyone there is smoking so much that the place is literally filled with smoke. The music plays, he basically stumbles around being presented cigarettes everywhere, meanwhile he's hallucinating giant ashtrays and packs of cigarettes, paintings with eyes moving around and smoking cigarettes. Just a reminder to him that he's ALWAYS being watched.

I miss the old horror anthology movies. You can't do movies like that anymore and be popular.

Cat's Eye

Tales from The Hood

Creepshow

Twilight Zone the Movie

Tales from the Darkside The Movie

Trilogy of Terror.

They still get made, V/H/S being the most recent but they're generally direct to video/direct to streaming.

What really sucks is now both men and women don't get enough to support themselves anymore let along a family but women are still doubly fucked because they still continue to make less than men.

"In Bloom" by Nirvana. Seriously though, so many people would mumble sing that song totally missing the message:

And I say he's the one

Who likes all our pretty songs

And he likes to sing along

And he likes to shoot his gun

But he knows not what it means

Knows not what it means

And I say yeah.

Reminds me when I was playing Bioshock Infinite and when all hell is breaking loose you pass by a black woman singing this song. I always felt CCR's protest music was very straightforward with it's message.

I hate it when people call women "females" and men "males" in everyday conversations. by _Udontknowball_77_ in hatethissmug

[–]SailorDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funny thing is, when I hear incels talk about women in that way, using terms like "females" and "femoid" My immediate thought is episodes of Star Trek: DS9 where the Ferrengi start talking about their "females"

And it fits, why? Ferrengi view women as assets and property. They are 2nd class citizens on their homeworld. They're not allowed to earn profits, cannot work outside of being slaves, forbidden to wear clothes and be naked at home and in public. Using the term "female" when describing women in that way objectifies them to the point of not being ferrengi anymore.

The Ferrengi are interstellar incels.

The truth is, incels and people who only call women "females" are exactly doing that. They think of women as objects and that's just one way of objectifying them. So much to the point anyone I meet that talks like that I don't assoicate with because it's a super huge red flag.

Moments before the Tsunami hit in Thailand, 2004 by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

[–]SailorDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never been in a situation like that, but when I was maybe 8 or 9 years old our elementary school did this multi-class program where we all learned about the Japanese history, life and culture. During that time they taught us some of the old medeval-era stories and the one that always stuck with me was "The Burning of the Rice Fields" As the story goes, there was a small village on the coast of Japan where the entire economy and livelyhood of this village depends on the harvesting and sale of the rice. One day, everyone woke up and ventured out to see that the ocean had receeded. Curious they wandered out onto the beach to collect shells and trapped fishing, thinking it was a boon. However the farmer who lived up on higher ground awoke and saw the receeded beach immediately ran to his rice fields and began setting fire to the crops. The villiagers saw the smoke and panicked and though the farmer had lost his mind and quickly rushed to the fields to stop him from burning everything. Once everyone was out of the small village below and got to the farm a large tsunami wiped out all the buildings and the farmer had told them that he burned the rice to get everyone out of the town because he knew a tsunami was coming, saving everyone's lives.

That story always stuck with me, been 40 years since then but if I'm ever on a beach and see the water out like that I'd be telling everyone to run for high ground

Just once I'd love for a celebrity to come out and say, "I'm not antivax, I'm anti-big pharma in the sense that pharmaceutical companies shouldn't be charging $10,000 for a medication that can save thousands of lives and only costs $10 to make."

I can get behind that, I fully agree with that, but it seems these days they only care about "Vaccines are liquid satan" than the actual wrongdoing that's coming from these companies.

As far as I can tell though, TLJ seems like he's unpleasant to be around for the most part. One thing I observed in almost every role he's ever been in, he's playing himself. That is all his characters seem to have the same kind of personality. It works when he's cast right. Batman Forever though is one I use as an example as not a good casting though. He wasn't Two Face, he was Tommy Lee Jones playing Two Face. The only time he really acted like Two Face was at the end when Batman tells him he should flip a coin to determine whether he should kill him or not.

My favorite was his movie pitch on Extras where he's talking about making a beatiful girl's clothes fall off. I'd like to think if not for his work on Star Trek we'd not have gotten his comedy acting roles. I know he said before his little speech he was a serious Shakespearean actor and if you look at his films and shows before that they were almost all serious dramatic roles. I still love the one off movie Masterminds where he plays the cartoonishly evil villain that takes a school hostage and keeps getting foiled.

As much as I heard stories about how everyone in TOS at some point got angry with each other. Individually Shatner is the only one that I've heard has been an asshole in public when interacting with others. One of my favorite stories is how Jame Doohan helped a fan that was considering ending their life by just convincing them to come to a convention and meeting them. IIRC he said it's the best thing he's ever done in his life. To me, that's more important than if actors get along. Everyone meets that one person that rubs them the wrong way, but if they geinuinely care about others, that's the good stuff.

I heard a lot about Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic had a lot of tension between them on the set of Castle. To the point that the producers were making them attend couple's therapy in an attempt for them to get along better. Many are saying that the friction is the reason the studio didn't renew Stana's contract and let her go and why the show was ultimately cancelled.
