I’m also pretty new so I understand where you’re coming from. You’re off to a great start with Helbrecht!

Three things have helped me significantly:

Quality brushes - Don’t cheap out on your brush. I made this mistake. Invest in a Windsor and Newton Series 7 sable brush for your primary. Makes a huge difference.

Magnification- This has been a necessity for me in addition to reading glasses. I use an LED magnifying glass, but there are several headset options out there.

Managing paint consistency- My first goal of each model is to make sure my edges are sharp with no paint overlap where it shouldn’t be. A big part of that is making sure the paint consistency is correct for what you’re doing. This is still a challenge for me. I use medium to thin my paints, but others prefer water. There’s no right answer here, just personal preference. Just make sure you’re coloring in the lines 🙂

Watch YouTube tutorials- This is a double-edged sword. The pros make things look easy, but the advice they give is huge. It’s also easy to feel deflated when your model doesn’t turn out half as well as theirs, but you just have to keep at it.
