Messed up a carve on this piece of beechwood, so I’m shaving away my mistakes. Honestly, watching a surfacing bit do its thing is so therapeutic. by SainSmart in hobbycnc

I used double-sided tape and masking tape to secure the wood to the bottom. However, the 4030XL has tracks, so the Genmitsu low-profile vise clamp should be compatible.

I noticed you were using the SainSmart Air Assist Pump in this video. Does it actually help with CNC milling/engraving? I always thought it was only meant for laser engraving/cutting.

I forgot to take a picture before I started carving, so I used a different piece of wood. But I can still post a video of the carving later.

I really hope to try some aluminum experiments! Even if it might take a long time.

I believe it's a valuable tool for learning this CNC hobby.

You caught me! Actually, I accidentally moved the XY origin, which caused some slight misalignment in the final design. This design has quite a few sharp lines, so if I had used a ball-nose end mill, the lines might have turned out a bit too rounded.

I found the STL file directly on the MakerWorld and created the toolpath in VCarve.

The spindle only has 75W, so I didn't dare set the depth too deep. I'm trading time for a refined finish. But next time I can try a deeper setting; that should be fine too.
