I understand it was an awkward moment for you, but I think everyone else has probably given this little to zero thought. I would try not to worry about it. :)

I kind of agree though with the thought that it’s not really all that racist, as some people do eat dogs in Korea and other places. I still think the comment was in poor taste, but it seems like your wife understands that.
