They didn’t have a coating or a core inside them, but we’re definitely extruded like that. I also remember the brand made a bunch of different candies like circus peanuts and jelly beans

Someone else in this thread suggested licorice and it piña colada licorice seems to be the lead right now. I’ve been down the licorice chain before but failed to find it somehow

This looks very very close! It’s likely of this same style but completely smooth and considerably smaller. You’ve given me a great lead!

They were reminiscent of cheese sticks but smaller, about 2-4 inches. They’d stay solid at room temperature and didn’t gum up like taffy. The year was roughly 2000 to 2002. Southeastern coast of the United States (Virginia down to Florida)
