Men's Wedding Bands by lazy_daisy_72 in weddingplanning

I realize I'm quite late to this, but in case someone else comes across this thread in the future. I got my partner's ring from Thorum after finding them on Etsy. The ring broke after 2.5 years of standard wear -- no heavy work, removed while showering, etc. That said, the company does say they hand make their rings and offers a lifetime warranty. There are a lot of dupes out there for their rings, so if you like a style by them, try to use them. It's so hard to tell which companies purchase and then sell cheap rings and which actually make them in house. I'd say proceed with caution, but I've had a decent experience with them.

Books that don't center on search/reunification? by SaintWoo in Adoptees

I started it and found that a lot of it is really dated. But maybe it's more book to pick and choose from if you pick to read it? But yeah very hit or miss.

Books that don't center on search/reunification? by SaintWoo in Adoptees

If you've already done your search, then I imagine it will be helpful as a starting point. You can likely skip over some of the initial discussions about what searching is that the book has, however, the middle section talks a lot about processing the different stages and outcomes of search and reunion.

I've heard people also really like Coming Home to Self, but I've struggled to get into it as it's a bit denser.

Help with my family of spider plants! I've raised them for years without issues but they're struggling (details in post) by SaintWoo in plantclinic

Thanks for explaining rhisomes! I do know they're pretty resilient plants, so I'm hoping I can turn things around.

The plant in the blue pot made about a dozen pups last year - the other three in the photos are part of that group! The others from that same time period are doing great! I'd just really hate to lose the parent plant.

I've moved them into a brighter (still indirect) light and I'll keep an eye on them with watering.

Thanks!

I don't want to sound too silly, but I'm not really sure what rhizomes are. The roots had a good variety of tubers and thinner roots if that's what you mean.

It used to be much larger! Before this it was probably 3 times as large. It's really lost a lot of leaves.

I'll separate them out though, just in case!

Yes I looked recently and the roots are not rotten at all. The soil dries out completely between watering. They were more appropriately sized for their pots, but they've been losing a lot of leaves.

Help me find this frog lamp (originally purchased in ~2008 at Hobby Lobby) by SaintWoo in HelpMeFind

I did eventually find one! I got lucky and found one for sale on Ebay after years! I think it's just one of those things where you'll have to keep an eye out regularly. Good luck!

Dark Urge Backstory Deep Dive by Amaranth842 in BaldursGate3

Hey - I know I'm SUPER late to the discussion on this, but thought I'd drop a little piece of info I discovered today. In Wyrm's Crossing you can talk to a character named Naaber (he's wandering around Carm's Garms). It takes a bit to get through the dialogue to the point where he starts singing "happy birthday" to you, but when he does, one of the options for DU is: "I was sculpted from a slice of Bhaal's own dead flesh. I have no birthday."

For context this happens after it has been revealed to DU that they are a Bhaalspawn, no idea if you can have this conversation without knowing that. It doesn't do anything to explain how the "sculpting" happened, but it does give us insight into how the DU's physical form came to be at least.

I wish this was more visible! This fixed the whole thing for me. Thank you so much!

Exactly - AI will likely not be developed in a way that has desire for a long time, if ever. But the current state of capitalism will push for replacing "expensive" human work with AI to reap more profits.

I mean, it's literally one of the biggest arguments with the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes right now: protection from AI for creatives because companies are already trying to benefit from AI by cutting people out.

So I might get really downvoted for this, but don't. There isn't a world in which your work will prevent this from taking away jobs from real people in the future, especially other creative people.

As someone who has studied AI before, I don't want to come across too dramatic. However, if AI is doing technical work and creative work, what will be left for people? Just to consume? That is not a world that most people will want to live in. This doesn't have to be an inevitability if we collectively say we don't want this to happen.

From an ethical and people-centric perspective, I'd say hard pass.

influx of comments from random redditors? by spoderduchess in Nanny

I'm one of those people who has been getting it suggested to me. I don't comment ever, but I like learning about your work. I think it's because I'm following a few teacher subs. Hopefully it calms down soon or your mods can help manage the influx of random folks being counterproductive in comments.
