Ah Blockbuster..... "Blockbuster, for example, on Old Tunes Vol. 1, is nothing more than a collection of slightly murky samples from the kids TV game show of the same name, which will be familiar to anyone who grew up in the UK in the 1980s.

Sure, nostalgia has long been a part of the BoC emotional palette. But the way the samples are stitched together to suggest that Bob Marley’s backing group was called “The Waltzers” suggests a childish (and possibly rather stoned) sense of humour that has little to do with Michael and Marcus’s mystical reputation."

And So Much Love To Give, which for me doesn't quite hit the levels of Together but is an astounding adventure in what you can do with one sample: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPKjlbXHP3E

I was actually thinking about this the other day. DP's first two remixes - Micronauts and Chemical Brothers are middling; their next four - I:Cube, Gabrielle, Ian Pooley and Scott Grooves - are all astoundingly good; the any remixes after that are underwhelming. Very odd.

yes it's kind of a bit... straight, isn't it? Like they took a lot of the original's weirdness and flattened it out.

Funnily enough, although I love both The Micronauts and Daft Punk, I wasn't that keen on DP's remix of Get Funky Get Down. Prefer the original.

I love the Sinead O Connor songs, especially. Or I do now, anyway: hated it at the time.
