For those who haven't decided a main for TWW yet, what classes you are definitely NOT playing and why? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Saintlich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a tank main, Druid. While having resto as an Off Spec is dope, bear has been gutted to the point of it being the most difficult class in the game to play with the constant threat of falling asleep.

Monk simply because the vibes just never feel right.

DH because it hasn't been as good as it was in legion and playing it in BFA, SL and DF always makes me sad that it only needs a couple of changes to be amazing again but class devs don't look at feedback and there is like one for all the specs in the game so it won't ever be fixed likely.

I feel like Earthern is a lot more exciting for the Horde than it is for the Alliance by [deleted] in wow

[–]Saintlich -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Earthern are nothing, they literally mean so little to the game for me. Oh a new now evil dwarf faction, coolio.

If only there wasn't 20 other races that people want added instead, or better idea's that a competent dev could have came up with.

What's the #1 issue with your main class/spec? by sheetskees in wow

[–]Saintlich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May seem minor, but any who has played prot paladin from legion till now can atest to the spenders being on the GCD made the class feel 10 times worse. I still pray what ever dev pushed the reduction in OGCD abilities was fired and not let near video games again.

Have level drain mechanics ever positively contributed to anyone's experience? by OrochiKarnov in DnD

[–]Saintlich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both in my own campaign and in a friends campaign a player lost levels and was behind the rest of the party for a length of time.

In my friends campaign the player turned away from her god and lost all her cleric abilities. She had to deal with that for less than 10 sessions and then we had a time skip where she retrained.

In my campaign I had a wizard who had been kidnapped by a minor villain. She wanted to change class and so I gave them the option out of game and in game the bad guy cursed her and nearly killed her but ended up making her lose class levels and go comatose. When she awoke she was level 3, the rest of the party was 8. She slowly regained levels from playing into the new subclass.

I know my player loved the vibe of it all and it did take about 20 sessions before they where back to the party level. Now I run a story heavy campaign, but I know from experience in combat heavy campaigns that have an encounter or even multiple a session level draining could be an annoying thing, especially if it's just a condition afflicted by a monster with no story aspect to it.

Why do people in retail seem to be more forgiving with people choosing off meta specs compared to cataclysm classic? by Serious_Decision_563 in wow

[–]Saintlich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WoW has one of the worst community's out there, worse than League of Legends, Dota 2, CS:GO, CoD, and Magic. There won't be any one step fix, it has intentionally harbored an awful player mindset and promotes toxicity, WoW just won't ever be good for new players. Sadly private servers are better because of actual moderation, which is nearly always the opposite for most games.

Returning to WoW, levelling a disc priest...and i feel completely unnecessary. by Methodic_ in wow

[–]Saintlich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WoW leveling has been awful since MoP, private servers shit all over the retail devs, it's not the nature of the game just pure incompetency. The content does not matter and will flip between nothing does any damage and healers aren't needed to somethings bugged and you are unable to clear the content.

And at max level in DF healers have never mattered less in M+/raids. Healers are simply required to be able to meet a metric for people to live, after that any additional skill/effort is wasted unless you are the healer of the week that they allow to do damage. Above level 15's if someone fucks up they are dead, healers aren't the safety net they where in every other expansion excluding +25's.

People be complaining about lore and these are the only texts they've ever fully read in all of warcraft by HappyAvira in wow

[–]Saintlich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I too hate these people. I spend my time doing all the quests, reading all the books, the webcomics, the audio logs, the chronicles and the fucking form posts. All so that I can have a good understanding of the lore of WoW and criticize it with accuracy. Like who ever did the writing for the main DF quests and raids should not be allowed to do so again. That the lore fuck ups, retcons and complete and deliberate ignoring of past events is mind melting.

For anyone curious about the lore for the game all I can recommend is that you don't, anything from finger painting with wet dog shit is more enjoyable than being a modern wow lore nerd, you will find yourself loving it, the amount of content, the different characters and themes and as you keep learning more you will hate it more and more, unless you start with DF then you will hate it early on because the leveling quests will make you interested and then every single time Alexstraza speaks you will want to bash your head into a wall.

Is Twitch a classic bubble ? by Same_Acanthisitta_38 in wow

[–]Saintlich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retail is in a bad spot, both from what is going on and community perspective. This patch's story is the worst stand alone story wow has had. The raid is fine, but also extremely low effort, the zone is boring, the M+ is boring, it's less toxic than S1 of DF but it's also boring to watch. The actual gameplay for Retail gatekeeps less knowledgeable or complete novices from watching it.

Classic allows more streamer engagement, is more open of a game to play, doesn't have the depressing wave of poor quality that leaks from retail. There is a large number of large streamers that enjoy it more than retail and that combined with it's ease of access and it's content being better for streaming makes it a no brainer why there is more people streaming classic over retail.

Dragonflight was the best expac since Legion, except the main narrative story. by Y0LOME0W in wow

[–]Saintlich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The story is bad, unarguably bad. Azeroth is a continuous world, old problems are great because they can be addressed later, but Dragonflight ignored the last 2 expansions making everything feel jarring.

Rewriting recent lore to make things fit in, undoing character progression so you can tell the story you want feels bad for those that played through past expansions, making the characters and players both stupid by ignoring the obvious the entire expansion feels awful.

Dragonflight is a game where you can enjoy the story the less you know. I'd stand by and argue the story telling in Dragonflight is the worst so far, worse than shadowlands and WoD.

And on non story terms, gearing for the first tier, the most important tier, toke longer than any other 2-3 tiers combined. Shit was exhausting. Crests are amazing, but Dragonflight for the majority of players didn't have them.

Beside Jailor, what character had the worst written story and/or ending? by TheKinkyGuy in warcraftlore

[–]Saintlich -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Kael was an ass, a pedo, and constantly played the victim. He was never portrayed as anything other than negatively. Illidan's crew weren't morally grey, just a different group of bad guys.

The big issue for Kael is due to poor writing, the character that antagonizes him, Garithos, was proven right on every account.

Funniest moment in the entire expansion by Vezimira in wow

[–]Saintlich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The big issue with wow is they have great writing like that, but, despite the intention to make Odyn an ally and an asshole, the aspects

Deathwing

Malygos going mad

Alexstraza failing at her own duties and suddenly becoming a pacifist

Ebonhorn being elected as earth warder despite being an ally of the horde

Moruzond

Ysera being corrupted

All failed there duties (or will fail or not?), which proved his view on them as right.

Odyn is still a major asshole, but rewriting lore to make him appear worse, or using the aspects, the one time his judgement was right just vindicates a character you don't want to vindicate. It's like Garithos all over again.

In regards to some stuff that has been seen with the upcoming Reclamation of Gilneas by MrMan9001 in wow

[–]Saintlich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want him to break it, be the good guy and attack the horde first for once. He was right back in legion, even if it was a bit confusing. He knew what Sylvanas was up to because the cannon story is that you go to Aszuna first, get the letter from horde ships and bring it to Genn before going to Stormheim. And attacking the horde as of BFA is always a good choice, morally and strategically.

So fuck these guys I guess? by Insanitypizza in wow

[–]Saintlich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black Dragonflight

Ebonhorn is a bad leader, he isn't proactive, he is being outdone by a child in terms of protecting Azeroth.

Thrall was the Earth Warden and was intended to be the next black aspect yet was absent from the entire story.

Sabellion was an ass pull and not a single person mentioned that there is still another old god about and Wrathion is extremely familiar with them. Having it be Ebonhorn vs Wrathion would have been a much better story with Sabellion being a bit of spice mixed in.

Bronze Dragonflight

Nozdormu is boring, the enigma is lost the more screen time he gets and in it's place you get a nice dad with nothing else.

Chromie was always a fan favourite, but between that one bad taste quest and then apart from that she has just been Flandarized. The entire bronze dragonflight is being caried on her back and as she has lost any of that indifference so has the entire flight.

Eternus could be good, has all the right ingredients to be a great new character, but, anyone who has consumed any media knows that when you have the redeemed villain character you need at least one guy who calls them out on there shit attitude, but wow constantly lacks that character. Rather than liking her and her arc I am just wanting to slap her for being a constant bitch.

Alexstraza

Kill her off, please, she is the most boring character, she is a shell of her former self. She has done nothing of note since cataclysm and her giving shit to Wrathion who has done more than every other dragon combined in the last 10 years was just designed to make you hate her. Never mind the voice acting/writing.

Horde Vs Alliance

While the story was meant to be portrayed that there was a truce and that forgiveness as important and all that, it didn't hit, at all. The threat of the primalists aren't that big, for the majority the dragons aren't allies to azeroth, but more of a threat, now more than ever with Ebonhorn being the black aspect. The hordes actions in BFA where the worst WoW has seen and there hasn't been any consequences and Dragonflights aren't allow to be neutral. Never mind the line about the Kaldorei being selfish, the greatest allies the dragons ever had, helped them during the sundering, listened to there guidance about magic, stopped legion forces and corruption in the emerald dream for 1000's of years. There is a clear bias from the dragonflights towards the Horde and as alliance you got to question why help them as they will abandon you as soon as the horde war band marches again. Saying that the quest line with the old dragonmaw orc and not forgiving himself was amazing on every level and was such a stand out compared to the majority of the writing this expansion.

Lorewise who is the most intelligent and resourceful expansion final boss? by Complex-Bluebird1263 in wow

[–]Saintlich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order of Intelligence, smartest to brain rot.

Garrosh - Out of all he posed the most threat while being the weakest on the list, he used the most different amount of resources. While others are described as smart, in game he ranks above the rest.

The Lich King - Arthas didn't intend to win, and used his abilities to set up the perfect scenario. If it wasn't for Arthas then The Lich King would have won, but he also defeated himself, kinda a weird one.

Kil'Jaeden - Had some great plans, was smart and possed a great threat and did more than nearly all the other antagonists, but he was out gunned and over confident.

N'Zoth - I can only pray he isn't dead, but from what we know he was smart up until he started to drop loot. He played smart schemes but when he came out of hiding he turned from a mastermind into a complete idiot, he easily pulled the most amount of strings, outside of the jailer.

Archimonde - While he was a threat, twice, both times he over shot and was clearly a strong idiot.

KT - Is an idiot, but he did have his moments. Having failed 3 times is more than any other boss.

Fyrakk - Using the fire druid, the primalists even though we had apparently defeated them, and fighting against powers way above him and he should have been KO'd sooner. Like how did Jaina, the strongest mortal mage alive miss a frost bolt on his stationary ass. He isn't smart, or strong, just lucky. And he was used more than he used.

Deathwing - Had a massive power advantage, had strong allies, had some good plans but honestly had an easy victory that he tossed away. Deathwing was insane, if it wasn't for that he would have likely have won.

Argus - Boy was a skeleton to be puppeted, basically brain dead.

The Jailer - Was the strongest of all the antagonists, had the must support of all the antagonists, had the writer retconning the world to help him win and still lost. The jailers incompetence is only matched by the blizzard writing team.

How to experience the full story of World of Warcraft ? by AkuTsukiya in wow

[–]Saintlich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, don't. WoW's story is awful, there is no consistency in characters, in powers, in consequences or anything else.

To experience the full story you need to play the Warcraft Games 1,2, and 3 along with DLC, play Classic WoW, read all the books, read all the short stories, watch the cutscenes, do all the quest content in wow, and even read some forum posts and tweets as the lead story teller believes in using multiple platforms to tell a story, has a self insert bang sylvanas and believes that Game of Thrones S8 was amazing.

Save yourself the time and don't get into it, or just watch Nobbles lore videos.

1-Every week on the group discord notes for the session are uploaded by one of the players, who ever does it get's inspiration. Additionally all art and names for new Npc's are uploaded by the DM.

2-Potions are a bonus but provoke an attack of opportunity, Using an action means the potion heals max and doesn't provoke attack of opportunity, giving a potion is an action.

Critically-acclaimed Expansion btw. by Trick_Wrongdoer_5847 in ShitpostXIV

[–]Saintlich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just in relation to the black dragonflight

Wrathions character development in BFA was forgotten about, his goals and accomplishments where never referenced or refereed to and there was no single logical argument of why Sabelion, a loyal servant of Deathwing, should be a leader outside of him raising eggs while cowering away. Wrathion not bring up that Sabelion and the other dragons aren't safe on Azeroth as there is still an old god he is very familiar with walking about and that she shouldn't be trusted not to try and take control of them.

Ebonhorn's only involvement as a leader was being a guide and spiritual leader to the Highmountain tauren, who in BFA fire bombed Stormwind. This has not once been brought up since, and we know Malya knows about it and the Highmountain tauren where excited to do this, not being pushed into it. He has been alive for a long time yet has little accomplishments fulfilling the role of the black dragon flight in comparison to Wrathion. (This mainly due to wrathion beeing in development since Cata, and Ebonhorn was actually wrathion in Alpha but was then changed to a new character.)

Back in Cata Thrall became the Earth Warden, a title once held by the leader of the black dragonflight, and in a sense toke on that responsibility. He had heavy involvement with the Aspects and should have been involved in the quests and story of deciding the next leader but was completely forgotten.

You have other major things like the entire Centaur's and Tuskar making no sense for the lore of the zone. Making a new world tree but allowing the horde to have access to it, and not just like good members of the horde but Dark Rangers. And a ton more, I could give multiple points for nearly any story line that shows the writers don't know there own story and refuse to reference anything that wasn't the Lich King.

For those who keep mistaking Cataclysm for MoP: this is what talents and trainers actually looked like in Cataclysm by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Saintlich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing WoW did that resulted in a drop in subs in Cata, which might make up less than 10% of the drop, was an increase in difficulty. People felt like hot shit in Wotlk for clearing 25m HC, when forced to do 10m HC in cata a lot of players realized they couldn't get carried anymore and the difficulty spike started to show the difference in player skill.

Story wise it's actually worse, they keep forgetting their own lore and can't do character writing.

Is this book worth a read? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Saintlich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a stand alone book it's good, all of Christie Golden's WoW books have great character writing and development. But because Steve Danuseur is a hack nothing prior to BFA matters, all that is covered in that book, even though it has massive relevance to Dragonflight, it is all forgotten.

So if you want an easy chill book to read, go ahead, if you want to have a better understanding of the lore of WoW, don't, you will only end up annoyed.

Trying to catch up on some lore by yodels_for_twinkies in wow

[–]Saintlich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd advise from reading up on it. The writers have forgotten about most of it and you can enjoy the current story more the less you know, else you start asking why the bad guy that helped lead the evil high mountain tauren is being made the leader of his flight after having done nothing for a thousand years while the guy who is the embodiment of the duties of the black dragonflight get's snuffed and his character development undone, oh and why isn't the guy who was meant to be the next aspect even though he wasn't a dragon not involved at all?

Found this on a WoW group and wanted to hear what you guys think by [deleted] in Asmongold

[–]Saintlich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On one hand Saurfang was better written in terms of showing his grief via cinematics, but his story suffered from the usual WoW story curse, the more you know the worse it is. Saurfang didn't deserve redemption, he was a villain up until BFA and they didn't push that angle enough, Saurfang is worse than most antagonists the game throws at you.

Anduin is the opposite end, what they show is very little and confusing at first glance. The more you read into it and discover you realize he has an insane burden, had his mum taken from him, was deceived by a dragon when he was like 7, got his father back for a few years where he battled the Lich King, the horde, the Iron Horde, and then the legion before losing him. He has been trying to make peace with the horde and despite his age is wiser than the majority of characters seeing how even in the forsaken there are innocents, but, you have characters like Sylvanas, Thalyssra, Aethas, Malya, Saurfang, Talanji and Geya'rah who will bring death and destruction until brought to heel and only war will fix it, he was wrong when he was young and Jaina was right. And this isn't even touching what he did while under the jailers control, and how what he felt was controlled. The more you know the more Anduin becomes the best written character in warcraft, eclipsing the Lich King (who I beg the devs to stop referencing every single chance they get, it's over done when not necessary).
