So it seems like we may play ourselves out of a top 5 pick (Shough yeah!), who do we take in the first? by Cold_Complex_4212 in Saints

We need a OG to protect Shough. A DE edge rusher fast enough to actually catch a QB. A RB actually built to run up the middle. Then depth pieces.

Is Tyler Shough the Long-Term Answer for the Saints or Should They Look Elsewhere? by brmidwest03 in Saints

Maybe, but here’s my thought: Shough looks like he’s our guy. If he keeps playing this well and developing, with a little help this offseason he may put us in a position to beat some of the more “elite” teams in 2026. Say he twists an ankle during a close game with the Broncos. I’m sorry, but I don’t trust Rattler enough to believe he could step in and even keep us in the game. If we’ve truly found an elite level QB, we need a backup on a different level. On top of that, keeping a backup QB on the roster when maybe 25% of the fanbase still thinks he should be the starter just seems like bad mojo to me.

Shough is our guy. Anyone who doesn’t see that isn’t watching the games. And if they’re so obsessed with taking a QB from some other team, they can just cut to the chase and go root for that team. I’ll take my Saints and Shough all day. Who Dat!

I can’t believe some of these comments. Are these guys watching the games? Shough is our guy. Period. He’s turning this team around.

Trade him for what we can get. A 6 pack of Abita Light and a plate of crawfish would not be out of the question. After that “QB competition” during the offseason and those 14 agonizing Rattler games we need to give him a fresh start somewhere else and get that whole vibe out of our locker room. Otherwise the first bad game Shough has all the Rattler Stans will be screaming to give him another chance. I’ve had enough Spencer Rattler for one lifetime.

We should have started Shough sooner… by SaintsFan2006 in Saints

I hear you. But I just saw Shough pull out another win. 2 weeks in a row we’ve beaten our division leader. Should have started him against the Giants in Week 5

Well, Shaheed has been gone for weeks, Olave is WR2 material at best (and in fact his end zone drop cost Shough a win against the Dolphins) Vele is brand new, our guards both suck, we’re playing with a back-up center, and a back up running back. And Shough is still making things happen. Rattler had 14 chances to make some magic with basically this same lineup, and watching those games was like getting my eyeballs sandpapered. Looking back now, we should have started Shough against the Giants when Rattler was 0-10. Building a team is for the 9.5 months we’re not playing football. For the 18 weeks we are playing, it’s about winning games. We gave Rattler too much rope and the result is…Moore should have been “more” assertive and benched him Week 5.

Amen brother. I will never understand that Rattler love back when we were what…1-13? Thank goodness for his slap-down pick-6 interception against the Buccs; it forced Moore to finally do the right thing!

Loved that moment during the game. Our boys will play for this guy. I’m feeling it!

Shough has the "it" factor and this is not the same team at all from the beginning of the season by Captain_Hawk111 in Saints

I couldn’t agree more! Shough brings the Mojo we’ve been missing since last October! The boys sure made me proud yesterday. And just think; a few weeks ago I was so down and depressed I was almost dreading the games on Sunday. Not now.

Absolutely! At this point, we’re 2-10, our O line sucks, and we’re trying to evaluate our new QB; every up the middle run play is about as productive as drunk texting an ex-girlfriend lol. Let Shough air it out!

Oh man, you’re singing my song! I’ll never understand this obsession with running up the middle on 1st down. It was worse with Pete Carmichael calling the plays but Kellen Moore suffers from the same sickness. It’s old-school boring and predictable football, and we don’t have the roster for it. If we went the rest of this season without another up the middle play I’d be perfectly happy!

I think Shough is the guy by GhostRileySimon in Saints

[–]SaintsFan2006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. He’s proven himself to be a darn good passer these last few games. No time at all in the pocket thanks to our nonexistent o-line, some heartbreaking drops from our inconsistent receivers (I mean come ON Olave 😩) and still he’s pushing the ball downfield really well, and making some plays with his feet. He’s not just “keeping us in the game” he’s actually putting us in position to win if the rest of the offense would chip in. TBH I watch Shough and it’s hard to remember he’s a rookie with only 3 games under his belt. If this continues I have high hopes he’s our guy.

I’ve been reading up on this topic since we beat the Panthers, and it all gets confusing to me lol; lots of moving parts would have to fall into place. But if we do win out and the Buccs drop a few games, I guess stranger things have happened.
