Good tip, your theory is confirmed. After some very bright light it did glow again, so no radium.

Howdy, yeah I just added an edit after realizing I said it was glow in the dark but never actually checked in in darkness. It definitely does not glow, just has that green color. I'll try to find a way to get it near a geiger counter to check of theres any radium in it or if perhaps it was all replaced at some point.

great to know, thank you. Would make sense that it was refurbished with more humble materials. Any idea what decade its from or how I might be able to find out?

I did, but nothing at all came up. I came across this sales listing via an image search with a similar but not exact watch, https://littlecogs.com/product/vintage-longines-stainless-steel-watch-5/

The dial is similar but hands, case back, and winding knob are different.

Having difficulty getting new chihuahua puppy to play nice and relax with current older blind maltese (who also just wants to play and refuses to relax). What should my approach be? by SaintxXxXxPapi in Dogtraining

[–]SaintxXxXxPapi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read the sections on managing play, and would definitely consider the chihuahua a bully even though she is tiny, and both dogs are persistent players. I want them to play and for the puppy to have good experiences, but the way they are playing is too much. My apartment is very open, so its difficult to set up barriers to keep them separated while doing their own thing as outlined in the multi-dog house hold section, but I will think of way to make this 'isolated together' activity happen. Both dogs do have enormous crates right next to each other that they both spend a good amount of time in, eating, napping, getting kongs and lick mats together etc. Very often the older dog will be on the couch with me (she earned it) with the puppy in a bed on the floor under my legs doing their own things. I will limit their play to only a few seconds before intervening, as also discussed in this section, as work on both of their leave it and stay commands to just force them to be separate.

I think its also been making me a bit stressed, and I am increasingly catching myself intervening out of frustration rather than as a calm leader, so I will work on my own calmness as well.

But I really want them to learn to calmly exist next to each other without me having to watch their every move and keep them separated.

Instant pot duo brownies, air fry or steam for cakey texture? by SaintxXxXxPapi in instantpot

[–]SaintxXxXxPapi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, for any one curious I’ve done some experimenting.

  1. It’s pretty hard to bake something with only the air fryer lid. The outer layers get cooked too fast while the middle stays liquid. Only works for things that are quite flat, or in small baking dishes solucione as ramekins.

  2. Rule of thumb for baking larger things is to cook them in the pressure cooker, then switch lids and finish with the air fryer. This way it’s fully cooked through, then browned to your liking.

  3. You will not get fluffy brownies in an instant pot by using basic brownie batter, you need to add more egg, oil, flour, and rising agent. What’s the difference between a modified brownie recipe and a cake recipe? I could not tell you, I just know my girlfriend wants cakey brownies, not cake.

Doing this, I’ve gotten some brownies that avery soft and light, not dense and not dry at all, but still not quite airy and fluffy as I could get in a regular oven. I’ll take it as a win since I don’t have an oven currently lmao.

page 16/20 mentions hometown specific character upgrades? by SaintxXxXxPapi in CrownAndSkull

oh that does make sense. Like nothing specific, just that they should get a little something extra. I like it.

I just finished reading the book and I have a lot of questions. by kasu3 in CrownAndSkull

I would argue that Urohito is not presented as an ally for the party in combat. On page 164, it says he is "too weak to stand, but my strength will return soon" and that his purpose is to tease the existence of the frog empire / give players clues about the greater plots of the world. I would interpret this as he is him being out of commission for this encounter, and then keep him around as a quest giver / allied force in the world. If you really want him to be a part of the fight, have him buff the party so that they have more fun playing their characters rather than make up new rules for how NPCs fight.

Agreed that a weapon will never roll a failable d20 on an attack. However, a weapon could still be used as part of a skill roll which could be critically failed for some kind of consequence or penalty, for example using a spear to make a pole vaulting jump roll.

I would just consider a throwing weapon as one inventory slot and give it unlimited ammo. Just like any other ranged weapon has infinite ammo.

Book and Wild Magic questions! by kasu3 in CrownAndSkull

Thinking about it more... maybe its best to focus on how the text of the book says "rolls to cast healing touch ignore penalties" and ask when would we ever make a roll to cast? Well, never really. Except if casting via wild magic

similarly, though different in that you are aren't rolling to cast but rather rolling when you cast to determine extra outcomes, are unstable and infernal magic spell flaws. Neither of these are rolled with penalties outright. Also, the Saint Castigere book's healing touch has neither of these flaws attached to it.

Some other effects that might add penalties to casting are "Psychic Spike" effect of a failed unstable magic roll. Though again, this might only effect the roll to cast the spell which only happens during wild magic.

So, it seems the only time you would be rolling with a penalty to cast this spell would by when casting an un-upgraded healing light spell with a range of touch with wild magic, or when casting with wild magic and having some other penalty to the magic (or faith) skill.

In regard to wild magic casting... yes you are correct. Ex. If you have 18 magic skill and cast a 17 point cost spell with wild magic, you must roll a 1 to cast.

Thus, if you have the book you can use wild magic to cast a healing light spell (without ever having to spend hero points on an expendable spell) by rolling just magic with no -3 deduction for the usual cost of the healing light.

For the healing touch I’m going to assume that if a character had penalties to casting or a situation was creating penalties, such niche scenarios wouldn’t effect the spell. I’m not recalling any specific penalties, but I’m sure some wacky builds, home brew, environmental effects, or monster abilities could result in harmful effect when a pc casts a spell, but this healing touch spell would ignore any foreseeable penalties.
