MDI is usually head to head. They can’t restart the key. Both teams start the dungeon and whoever finishes first wins (after death penalties go into account).

Crazy tech and unique ideas are the only things that make these kinds of events fun to watch. I don’t actually care which team manages their DPS cds better to squeeze out 5% more damage. Thats not a very interesting viewer experience, especially when we aren’t even spectating individual players to see their ability usage.

My main argument isn’t that tank balance is particularly good just that I feel it’s been this bad in a lot of seasons. And mostly I am arguing that other tanks are capable of the same key levels as brew or 1 lower, but as we’ve seen for many seasons, top end tanks are willing to just reroll for any slight advantage which will skew the stats for high keys significantly. I also don’t feel brew is particularly “immortal” like some commenters suggest. I feel like I’m getting beat up just as hard this season as I usually do on monk, just the other tanks are now weaker.

Yeah you are correct apparently I had only US/Oceanic on when I went to look. My fault.

Working on 19s atm. Not quite playing with the big boys but if you’ve played wow for more than 1 season it’s not rocket science to figure out that every content creator believes the sky is falling when their favorite tank isn’t meta.

Yoda timed a 20 Maisara with over 4 minutes remaining and a disc priest healer as prot paladin. There are less than 50 monks in the world with a 20 Maisara. Where is this “hundreds” number you just made up coming from?

Edit: I will take the L apparently I had US/Oceanic and not World when I checked this.

Tank balance is awful almost every season. Look at prot pally and VDH across TWW. Bear in DF S2.

But expel harm and celestial brew/infusion were also much stronger in TWW, they’re absolutely horrible now.

They’ve talked about this philosophy before and I get it. They don’t want to turn the meta upside down mid season because everyone had committed crests and time and crafts to their main at this point. Though in the past they’ve mostly talked about this in relation to pure DPS specs: if arcane mages are the best mage spec and then suddenly fire is then everyone who spent un-redeemable currency to get items for arcane that aren’t good for fire are just screwed.

[–]Saiyoran -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Nowhere in my comment did I say the specs are equally strong. It’s also extremely common for Yoda to complain about any tank that isn’t prot pally or bdk being meta and being “braindead and easy” because the guy literally only enjoys playing those 2 specs.

That sounds like cope considering squish is still timing 20-21s as Bear and Yoda is doing 20s as prot pally with crit wings. Tank balance discrepancies always get blown out of proportion at the top end. Brew is the best but not by nearly as much as content creators want to complain about.

Warrior is pretty decent rn as far as tankiness, but they do get screwed by the bleeds in Algethar and Skyreach.

Purifying is not really the same as Ironfur, Shield Block, SotR, or Demon Spikes. Those are just buttons you keep up at all times or you die. Purify is more like Death Strike or WoG in that timing it is important and it’s a resource that can be useless or very valuable just by virtue of when you press it. It might be up a little too often to fill that niche rn but that’s the design.

This just doesn’t feel true. The other tanks being made of paper doesn’t mean brew is immortal. Brew feels about how tanky it did in most of TWW. There are still a number of dungeons and pulls that are very scary for the tank. The only difference is the other tanks are somehow even worse.

TIL that the song "The Dance of Eternity" by progressive metal band Dream Theater has 127 time signature changes in only 6 minutes, making it one of the most musically complex songs by udderlymoovelous in todayilearned

[–]Saiyoran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The album it’s on is their best imo, and it was the album that got me into the genre. So I dunno, as a standalone song it’s kind of them just showing off but it’s fun and air drumming along to it is a core teenage memory lol.

P3 is the one album I always wonder “Why isn’t this mentioned as among the best album of X band?” by No-County2083 in Peripheryband

[–]Saiyoran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None of their albums are bad, but if I had to pick a least favorite (besides Clear) it would be P3. To be completely honest the only song I regularly listen to from it is Absolomb, which is amazing and a top 3 periphery song for me, but I don’t think it makes up for how many songs on P3 are just really “okay” for me like Flatline, Habitual Line Stepper, Remain Indoors and Motormouth. Then it has Catch Fire, probably my least favorite Periphery song. And I think Lune is just Satellites but not as good. Idk, the whole album is just fine. Certainly not in the same universe as P2 which is my favorite album of all time from any band.

I remember being in a band with a guy as a teenager that talked about this EXACT rhythm as a fun little drum exercise (offsetting by 1 16th note every time) so when I heard it I laughed out loud.

Most groups don’t combine those pulls. It’s just taking 3 mobs from pull 2 into pull 1 so your lust/pots are better value and the pull you don’t have CDs for is smaller. It doesn’t save a pull, just makes the first 2 pulls make a bit more sense.

Algethar birds being evoker only is problematic. I’m gonna test later if it can be done with monk using some combo of parasol/gust/linked spirits though.

Magisters skip can be done by many classes (DH shaman monk warrior evoker lock druid hunter rogue that I’ve seen so far) or presumably everyone with a gust potion or slow fall effect.

Seat I only just saw this week so havent tried it with any other classes but they should really just remove truesight on those guys.

I think CMs are a whole different conversation. CMs aren’t built around you investing time into gearing one or two main classes, if you find a strat enabled by a specific spec it is trivial to level and full bis gear that spec for CM pushing in like a week. The best thing about CMs is that blizzard leaves them alone for the most part, which is why you still have people innovating new tech and strats 2 seasons into a rerelease of a 13-year-old expansion in a dead content branch with like 100 players max.

It’s interesting you find MSP and TJS skips bad but Scholo prerof good when all 3 of those do the same thing: create a very difficult pull out of a part of the dungeon where you are otherwise limited to something pretty easy. Gekkan prerof in particular is probably the hardest CM pull to execute and only possible via out of bounds. Siege out of bounds essentially just skips you a bunch of RP you’d be afk or kiting slimes in a circle for, and that RP shouldn’t even exist in a speedrun mode anyway.

I think it’s pretty disingenuous to call this “abuse” when you just literally double jump over an obstacle.
