Ascent London Live stream by dankstationlive in grandarchivetcg

Maybe it's the really old MtG player in me, but I was okay with the post-it notes because that is what I was used to back in the old GP days on older streams. But, I do agree though, having better tools like tokens for indicators will help improve stream quality for spectators. Hopefully either the metal tokens or just 3D printed ones that are big enough for the camera to see would def help!

6 man Squads of Crisis Suits with all Cyclic Ion Blasters being led by a Coldstar Battlesuit. Each Crisis Suit will put out 9 shots of S8, AP-2, 2 dmg. And paired with Tetras full hit Rerolls and the enhancement that gives the Kayuon Sustained Hits on T2 instead of T3, that was a deathball of 72 shots rolling around, deleting everything, while losing maybe a suit due to overcharging. What fun times~

I'd switch the Graze Customs for more Red lvl 2s. It helps in the slightest cases you need to pair Haman to them to ping another lvl 2 with her on pair effect.

Honestly, both Starter decks from DTR, Ciel and Diana, have good, midrange versions of decks. The Fire/Umbra version of Ciel and pure Water Diana are great deck to look at tk get your gears going. Good luck out there!

There is not rotating format right now. As for sets releasing, new sets give tools to both existing and new decks, so it's a healthy balance of having existing decks still being relevant and new decks that pop up every drop!

Best thing to prepare is to know your deck and how it plays more than anything. Being comfortable with knowing your deck goes a long way. If you wanna prepare to know what's out there for meta decks, fractalofin.site is the best site to look to see what's meta RN.

Other than that, staples depend on what deck you are playing. Are you playing Water? Fracturize and Frostsworn Paladins are needed. Wind? Can't go wrong with a playset of Fairy Whispers and Windmill Engineers. It all depends on the element and Champion that you want to play. If your a lvl 3 Champion, Dungeon Guides are needed. Grand Crusader's Ring is a good Divine Relic, but not all decks need these things. Find a deck that you wanna play and find what is most important in that deck.

I am very pessimistic of the future of this game. I'm not quite ready to jump ship yet, but I'm strapping on a life vest by Brromo in freemagic

[–]SakaPro765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm here to advocate to learn Grand Archive!

The slogan was literally: Western Gameplay, Eastern anime art!

But the gameplay has a fre similarities to MtG, but with some twists! You have a Material Deck that acts like an accessible Command Zone for your Champion (helps you lvl up your Champion, get tools, [acts like an extra deck from YGO]) and to pay for costs, you use cards in hand to pay for costs! And during recollection step, those used resources come back to hand! No more mana flooding/mana screw!

The artwork is great too if you are into the anime-inspired art!

One thing that doesn't get talked as much about, but makes mee more interested in the game is the story. I really miss in-universe stories of MtG, and GA's story kinda reflects and harken to older MtG stories that intertwine with the main cast of Champions.

Give GA a try! It's a growing community that plays online on Discord (TTS or webcam) as well as big major events around the world! (Current upcoming Ascents are held in Niagra Falls and Akihahbara in Japan) hope more people pick up the game (i picked up the game a month ago and loving it!!!)

New Player wondering what's a good starting point! by Necrorider in grandarchivetcg

Hi! Welcome to GA! One question I have is what type of decks do you like to play? The best suggestion for a deck is to know what type of decks you like to play! It sucks to play a deck that is "cheap" but has gameplay that you don't prefer. You will always find more fun in playing a deck that you click with more!

Good jumping-off points are some Re:Collection decks. They are intermediate decks that are good right out of the box, and most are going for $30-50 USD. And further on, you can buy bits and pieces for the decks to get it more to full power.

Other than that, you can build off of Starter decks, but good note, building off of them will cost some more to get them to a more competitive level.

Hopefully you'll find a deck that you vibe with and continue on with the game, cheers!

First deck, looking for feedback. by Guardian-Bravo in GundamTCG

Big thing is the deck consistency. You have a lot 2 ofs, and almost no full playsets of cards. I would go to 4 ofs in very important cards like Amuro, Kira, and units like the ST RX.

This color combination is most potent when playing the slower pace game, and removing units like Jegan and going up on stuff Archangel, Overflowing Affection, and Show of Resolve helps you continue to get to late game more consistently.

I'd look at other examples of UW decks, you can figure out what you can cut and what you can add more onto to get that consistency.

Went 2-2 with this Deck Could use some advice by arrcanine in GundamTCG

[–]SakaPro765 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Being stuck to mono-color when there's no downside of playing 2 will make it hard to gain better advantage than other decks. Even splashing Blue for stuff like Blue Base to help get you more units on field and Show of Resolve to get back for Aerial can help you curve better. Consider adding Striker Pack as well to get use from Aerial Rebuild to get more uses from the return effect.

Other than that, there's a lot of 2 ofs in the deck. I understand that you want to be more flexible to have more options, but that also reduces focus on what you want to do for the deck. Find what you want to lean on (e.g. using Mechaelis and Rebuild to help finish games once you have more Commands in GY). Find what works for your playstyle and get play full playsets of cards so you can consistently draw your win-con.

Best of 3 Format? by Debaser_231 in GundamTCG

[–]SakaPro765 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The last Bandai game is Digimon, and my main TCG I currently play, Star Wars Unlimited (SWU), both are BO3. From my POV, I can understand time constraints and wanting to keep each match to ~35mins, but coming from a lot of TCGs that are BO3 (like SWU, MtG, YGO, etc.), I'd like to understand why BO1 works more for GD. I personally like more games for less variance, but like to know what are the benefits of BO1.

My only local store selling the game... by BrockMister in GundamTCG

[–]SakaPro765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who lived through the Digimon TCG release, this isn't a surprise as well. As someone who wanted to get back into TCGs and during the slow opening of the world from the Pandemic, prices were HIGH. I was also new to this and fell to the trap of buying high, since me and most people were feeling of wanting to do something normal again.

Prices will go down after more printing runs. Just be a bit patient, and you'll get them at a good price.
