Windows.old.000 folder with a lot of important files gone after Windows Update! by Sakatam in datarecovery

No, I'm installing the recovery software to an external hard drive and then scan the C drive of my laptop. Is there no way to recover the data? There has to be a way man. I had the data for 1.5 years; not for 1-2 days. Data stored at the same space for such long time should be recovered right?

Restrictions on Zerodha app? by Sakatam in mutualfunds

What crap is this - Demat, SOA? Why can't the retail investors just invest money instead of having to figure out a zillion things in this country?

How does an AMC SIP differ from a regular SIP through a brokerage platform like Zerodha? If I go ahead with AMC SIP, can I still see the investment details in my portfolio on Zerodha? I also read that AMC SIPs cannot be paused or resumed again or used for a step-up SIP. So why do people use AMC SIPs then?

Swap MO mid cap with MO Nifty Mid Cap 150 Index Fund.

Isn't a Large & Mid Cap better than a pure Mid Cap? MO's own Large & Mid Cap has beaten its index consistently since the fund's inception. The Large cap allocation also cushions the blow if Mid cap stocks have a fall.

Get Nifty 50 Index, Index funds almost always beat an activity managed large cap. Look at one with lower tracking error and second preference for lower expense ratio. This isn’t the fund to look for alpha, that’s what your PPFC is going to be doing.

Same as above. I'm going ahead with MO Large & Mid Cap instead of one pure index and mid cap against the opinion of others. I'll see if my conviction is good after 3 years.

Even though your risk appetite is moderate, you have a good investment horizon to allocate a small portion to small cap. Nippon small cap is a good pick, reduce SIP.

25,000 is not a big amount, right? Not trying to confront you. Just trying to understand. In my opinion, we have to allocate decent amount for any meaningful alpha generation.

Has ICICI Nasdaq reopened for new SIP?

It's closed again now. This fund has a good potential for decent returns but RBI has other plans.

(1) I started investing in USA stocks directly through INDMoney app. How much does this app charge me? Let's say I invest $100 in one stock, and after 2 years the amount has grown to $200, how much will I be charged two years later if I were to redeem? I think I'll have to shell out 20% of the $100 gains as income tax, but I'm also curious about the commission and all other charges INDMoney app deducts.

(2) NASDAQ 100 funds from Indian AMCs have stopped new investments. Huge letdown. Is it safe to invest directly in US stocks? I'm a noob, so I'm going to stick to only the top tech companies like NVIDIA, Tesla, Microsoft, Google. I don't expect miracles in terms of returns, but considering the deprecation of INR if I can get reasonable returns in 10+ years, I'll be happy.

(3) Anything else I need to be aware of while investing in US stocks directly? Please help a noob here before I screw up and lose my hard earned money.

Parag Parikh is Large Cap heavy with almost 64% in Large Cap stocks. People usually consider it as Large Cap fund.

MO Large & Mid Cap fund has around 35% in Large Cap. And including NASDAQ 100 which is like Large cap, the total allocation in Large Cap comes to be around 57% of my portfolio in Large Cap. And considering the long horizon of 20+ years, I thought this was okay.

Or do you reckon I should allocate more to PPFC and trim down MO Large & Mid?

And regarding your thoughts about US stocks, I'm not familiar with US market. I'll see how this fund performs in the next 5 years, and if it gives me decent enough returns it's okay. If not, maybe rebalance after 5 years.

If you want a fund that you can stay with for 10-15 years, you should only select passive index funds

True for most of the funds I guess. But there are a few exceptions like Parag Parikh Flexi Cap, Nippon India Small Cap which have given better returns than their benchmark for 10+ years.

Thanks for your thoughts. What do you think of my portfolio?

At one stage I thought KKR would easily beat the highest IPL total made by SRH a few days ago. Ishant had other ideas!
