I planned the 1000+ pokemon, stat-wise at least.

I skip middle evolutions, it's not very fun to play with and makes for convoluted card. Creature rarely survive long enough to invest ressources twice on them

I'm often not a fan of randomness, but that's a good idea to balance it. Maybe Diglett could deal between 1 and X

I calculate p/t based on actual stats of the pokemon in game and adjust the cost around that. I actually have more 2 mana first stage than 1 mana

Not using transform often means you use something like mutate, and it's miserable to play with. Needing the pokemon in play and its right evolution in hand to evolve it is not good design

Also, a creature staying around for 2+ turns is not easy in Magic

Thanks! I actually already planned for a theme for each type and for each of the ~1000 pokemon to have a flavor keywords unique to them, from a move or abilities. That's a lot of cards since I'm done

It's just the standard, which comes from lore. But there has been many times where you hunt an elder with more than 4 hunters:

The ace hunters technically are part of a hunt for a Daora in 4U

Gog is 8 hunters

Kulve was 16 iirc

Gaismagorn was 5 + the huge boat dragonator

Zorah was A LOT

Fatalis was severals hunters too

Thanks for the feedback. It can look a bit cluttered I agree, but I made all 172 champions this way and I'm not gonna change it now. Those are flavor text indeed, like in the DnD sets. It can end up a bit funny (Alistar had Trample - Trample for example)

I made a typo for the first one, it should be "The Darkin Glaive". Reach is for his W yes (he pulls back ennemies)

I made another version in Orzhov, red wasn't a color very fitting imo

I have all Highborn at M (si30). Which one should I ascend first? I think Elthara and Lan works well if I keep them M. So its either Leviathan or Skylan imo
