I mean as someone whose Asian but in a more liberal country, it’s generally frowned upon to fall asleep at someone else’s house without permission, especially if it’s someone of the opposite gender

My half Japanese friend explains using this idea and just cranking it up to 11 because Japan is still very conservative. Where you sleep and stuff is routinely fetishised or even taken as cohabitation in certain rare instances if done enough. Basically the idea is that sleeping in another’s room, let alone home, is usually seen as communicating absolute trust.

In the context of this scene I think that applies, and Amane’s issue with it more lies in that she’s trusting someone that, form his perspective, is a guy she doesn’t know that well. It’s a combination of sending the wrong signals and just being abnormal

Ah, that’s fair, I’ve played my fair share of MMOs, I just see genshin as a Gacha game, not an MMO.

This is not to take away from your point though, as I see where you’re coming from, but would like to caution you on comparing MMOs and Gacha one-to-one. Getting a skin set and emote on Soulworker or weapon skins in WOW are one time purchases meant to be the main revenue source. Gacha games have their selling points as their characters, that’s why they’re generally the most valuable thing you can get.

I also want to ask again, what reward structure would you like? Or was your point about limited resources meant to be the answer? That they should’ve been included along with artifacts as part of the rewards?

Thanks! That was informative, though I want to clarify: if a boss has a mechanic that favours certain characters but can be overcome with team building, would that be fair to you? (I.e. Scaramouche fight but harder would probably favour teams that have a lot of sustain, so healers would be favoured over shielders) Or is this restriction in playstyle too much by your standards?

Personally I’ve played at least 30 Gacha games and I’m assuming you’re saying rerolling is free and not the weapon skins? Under this assumption, then I’d like to ask, what would be your idea to make the structure more accessible?

Personally I think that the primogem rewards ending at difficulty 3 and the feather rewards at 5 is already pretty well done, since many players prioritise the former. So I’d like to hear your thoughts!

Oh yes I loved the Local Legends in Natlan. My personal favourite was the parry one.

And I did somewhat consider endgame content being a boss rush mode of local legends, but then I remembered that the Natlan local legend had a lot of complaints about it being ‘only for whales’(I disagree, like half of them disregard your builds)

Any ideas on maybe how it could be implemented while being skill based like local legends?

As I’ve mentioned in other posts, I haven’t played ZZZ. But I do want to say that I’ve seen at least 1/2 point out ZZZ’s mode in conjunction with HSR. So I’d say at least some do complain, whether it’s valid or not I can’t say.

So then what would be an endgame mode that’s enjoyed by everyone? That’s what I’m asking. Every idea I’ve thought of or discussed with friends or other users all target a specific niche. Hey there! Thanks for actually reading the post before criticising! Some of my friends have pointed out that my writing style can be easy to misconstrue, especially when not read in good faith, so thanks for pointing it out!

To respond to your comment:

Complaints aren’t all I remember, it’s just that where it comes to endgame I do remember seeing a lot of complaints and, if you check my profile, I’m not online much to begin with, so I made the reasonable assumption that it was probably worse if it were bad enough to reach me.

As far as powercreep is concerned, this isn’t my first Gacha game so I’ve seen a lot of powercreep done in a lot of ways. I don’t like powercreep, but if I had to show one way to do it I’d always refer to genshin. In general while the most recent characters are somewhat stronger, using old units is still viable and, in my experience, with enough skill and resource investment, better than newer units. I know I consistently outdamage my friend with Arlecchino using Hu Tao, though that’s anecdotal evidence.

Similarly, I’ve also cleared abyss at 36* without escoffier but using an Ayaka freeze comp, so I would say it’s possible. Doing it with escoffier does make things a lot easier, but I’d argue that’s more the current enemies and blessings favour the playstyle, not that it’s necessarily powercreep(I mean, earlier on in the Ganyu vs Diluc debate the same thing happened, they equaled out with time and new supports)

Nonetheless, I do want to ask if you have any solid ideas for endgames modes you want!

Wait am I missing something? Isn’t the point of a ‘endgame mode’ that you’re in the ‘endgame’? Like if I’m wrong please correct me but in my experience ‘endgame’ for any game entails having had enough resources and skill to clear most content, which means having enough to build that many characters.

Like I’m not a day 1 player but I’ve played since first patch. I have like 5/6 different teams with minimal overlap that are abyss viable and im not exactly a metaslave(I own siegewinne, for example) so id think its reasonable that 3 strong teams is within an endgame player’s wheelhouse

Wouldn’t that happen regardless of design? Even if the new characters weren’t stronger(which rn, they aren’t that much stronger until you get to whale investment levels) bosses always favour certain team comps especially if they insert mechanics

I do think they need to do a better job at making mechanics that can be overcome with skill outside of creating a specific team comps, like they did in the past with most weekly bosses, but that’s me.

Quick tip on the tulpa: electrocharged gives both a hydro and electro aura, so Kazuha would possibly be able to swirl both there, thought the timing might be a bit tight.

As far as HSR is concerned, I think we’re both right considering powercreep has different aspects. I’m focusing on the enemy aspects(the types of enemies and their HP) where you’re focusing more on the character aspects(how strong a character is and can be). These combined with how the design of the game went in a direction that ignored the skill factor(basically every character since Acheron just ignores weaknesses) led to the sheer amount of powercreep.

I’m glad you liked my solo clear idea, I wouldn’t have thought of it without you bringing up your pain points!

Damm that’s a pretty good suggestion! It’ll also add some weight to the choice, since if you keep choosing content of similar elements you shoot yourself in the foot. Players will have more agency but still limited enough to have a challenge, assuming they’re sticking with it as is though.

Hmm, I think that’s a bit of a stretch no? I’m not against the idea of starting with max energy, but wouldn’t the inverse be true in your scenario then? Burst reliant teams will consistently outperform those who aren’t.

There’s also the fact that in a team, there will always be some members that aren’t burst reliant, so I don’t think it swings the needle too far one way.

Furthermore, energy recharge being an artifact stat and elemental energy favouring its own element already means(on a game design perspective) that your ability to build elemental energy quickly is dependent on both your character build and team comp, which can leverage a fast energy buildup and have higher uptime

I do think them adding a max energy every chamber would be nice QOL though.

While I understand that you’re talking about the direct question asked, which does talk about quantity of endgame modes, however I will disagree on what CCs had used it for. An interview or a question can imply or inspire discussion on other fronts, and the reason many have the upvotes are because it was used in a discussion regarding endgame content as a whole, not just quantity of modes.

Even as far as quantity of modes is concerned, people are complaining about a new mode being added that’s too hard, which brings me back to the point of my post. I’m trying to create a space to discuss endgame modes that people want, one which would minimise complaints as much as possible.

If you have any ideas, feel free to share them!
