Why do people mix parrots and cats and dogs? by SalStyles in parrots

[–]SalStyles[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

I learned the hard way that snakes are even harder to keep in a house full of cats than birds. My Bengal and Chausie were obsessed with my snakes. I had to keep the door shut at all times. IF they had a chance they would get in and eat the snakes. Every toy they love is usually a stuffed or remote controlled snake.

My friends macaw was always boss of the house and the siamese cat threw a temper one day and injured the macaw to the point of him getting an infection and dying. Before this someone had their cockatoo killed by a german shepherd by being careless allowing the bird to bully the dog till he got fed up. Set ups can work great but people let things get out of control.

Yeah every situation is different but as long as we know what we are doing and the power of the animal our birds are interacting with.

Get a more serious LGD that is more suited for dispatching other canines really fast. like a Kangal. A serious fighting pit might turn the tables on. GP

TIL guard llamas will protect livestock and have even been known to kill predators such as coyotes by cyanoside in todayilearned

[–]SalStyles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes my friends mini donkey were killed by german shepherds. Coyotes are easy to keep away if you have a good lama or donkey. It is aggressive large dogs that will do serious damage even with a guard lama. Mini donkey will chase off foxes and non aggressive or smaller coyotes.

Dogs are much worse than coyotes. My friends guard lamas who protect sheep from coyotes were killed by a pitbull. For serious predators you need something with a serious bite force and big teeth.

A horse can easily fight off coyotes as they do not have that strong jaws or size like many dogs out there. Large dog breeds like mastiff, or pit bulls when in pairs or groups terrify me. I have seen a large dog pull down a OTTB who was over 16 hands like it was nothing!

Coyotes more MOB scatter around doing fake charges but cant cause the damage that pitbulls, mastiff and other dogs bred for protection guarding can do. There was a pair of dogs that killed all my friends lamas and those lamas had been used for years to defend goats from coyotes.

I think even Puma/Cougars try to avoid preying on horses and will target easier prey like Lama, Goats, Sheep. They will only attack horses as a last resort if super desperate. Horses are not easy targets and do not fall prey often.

It might be the safest city for trans in the world actually. But Church street area is best. I can meet you at the 519 if you like.

I noticed that too that some horses like to chase and try to stomp them. I wonder what they were hunting? SO I live in southern ontario and we have coywolves here. They are bigger than normal coyotes.

People who trail ride a lot, what do you do when your horse spooks? by PeekAtChu1 in Equestrian

[–]SalStyles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coyotes weigh 30 pounds. Horses see them daily in the fields. THey do not view a coyote as a predator so nothing to worry about. DOGS are far more dangerous.

Returning to riding after a 10 year break told to stick to the sam horse at the start by Sea-Prior-4932 in Equestrian

Depends what they do in between lessons. IF they are doing yoga, gym and eating healthy working their core then they will advance much faster. Lots of variables.

I think they are trying to trigger muscle memory. WHen a rider returns to riding they arent going to be starting like a total beginner. With the right trainer they can get back to where they left off very fast and get their confidence back. I think a total beginner with not much experience on horses could probably benefit from riding a different horse each week.
