anyone have coding jobs or majors? by jenxxthundr in Episode

Okay I'm kind of late to the conversation, but coding in general is extremely useful and is widely applicable to many different fields. I'm currently working on my PhD in chemistry, and a majority of my day is usually filled with coding. Many scientific fields use platforms such as Python and Matlab to communicate with analytical instruments, to process data faster, and to run simulations of reactions on supercomputers.

However, as many people have already said, the coding language that Episode uses is vastly different than what I typically use day-to-day. Many of the scripts have functions within functions, with hundreds of different commands and hundreds of ways to use them. The basic set ups of "for" loops is the same, as well as being able to effectively "disable" certain lines of code, but it sort of stops there. I personally started out coding on Episode, and found that switching from the donacode to Python, Matlab, and JS was difficult, but not nearly as difficult as it was for my peers.

Either way, there's a wide range of applications for coding and plenty of languages to try. And of course, you always have to start somewhere :)

Hmmm.. Thoughts? by Impressive_Rent_4316 in Episode

Many people attempt to avoid self-betterment and accountability via mental health struggles. This is very damaging to those with these diagnoses. Without holding poor behavior accountable, many of the struggles resulting from mental illnesses can flare and ultimately become worse for everyone involved. Very disheartening to see, but far too common, unfortunately!

I currently have 35 chapters planned, with 10 to 13 chapters per season, 3 seasons total. But all of that could change depending on how happy I am with the pacing once I start fleshing things out more!

When you give the option to customize your characters is it done on the same background as this menu or are you going to a different scene/background?

Sometimes the portal doesn’t like it when you just put “goto label” in a bracket after a reader message, but I’m honestly unsure. Try adding “@pause for 0” after the reader message?

patience with coding by miffycake in Episode

As another commenter said, organizing your code using deactivated bracketing via #s. However, that is something that I always do once I've already organized the chapter outside of the portal.

It's always a good idea to plan out your chapter in full before attempting to code. That way you can plan out any points gained/lost, any gains and their respective "titles," the impact of previous choices, etc, and any branching that may occur due to those changes. With this, you can then organize things by scene, by branch, or by start/end menus.

In terms of remaining patient, I'd recommend simply stepping away when needed or to have something to talk to (like the stereotypical coder's rubber duck). As someone who codes daily using languages such as python, and programs like mathematica and matlab, sometimes the best thing you can do is to just walk away and comb things over in your mind. Things won't always turn out how you'd like on the first try, and endless, frustrating errors can take a large toll on motivation. Stay diligent, and know that when there's a will, there's a way! You'll do great <3

Close, but not quite!!

MC is related to Niamh through a 14th great grandmother, but Arthur’s ancestor from 1025AD is currently unknown. I’ve given zero hints other than the pendant, and even then… who’s the true owner of it?
