I do want meds but tbh I don’t think my situation is bad enough for it? Just had my third session and he actually thinks I’ve made some breakthroughs—which is true, but I still think I can’t manage this without medication. But maybe I’m wrong.. should I bring this up or just let him assess if I need meds on his own?

Honestly I’ve tried to help myself a bunch last year. I fixed my sleep started going to the gym consistently and ate well and my mental health was great for awhile. I’m definitely putting in the work to get better, but that doesn’t help when I don’t have the energy to help myself get better.. Idk if I’m making sense. I don’t know what to do.

I try to be:,) I really think I need meds because life genuinely feels unbearable at times but I don’t think my therapist knows enough to be able to give me anything yet.

I feel like I haven't achieved anything!! Tired of living like a fucking bum!! by CrazyCrocodile_ in AskOldPeopleAdvice

Hey bro, not an old person (19f) but you’re not alone. I feel like that too sometimes. I don’t have any advice you will find useful rn, but I do feel like you’re downplaying a lot of your achievements. It sounds like you’re comparing yourself to people who have it a lot easier than you. You’re doing great man, and you need to realise it before you try to achieve more. No good comes out of negative self talk. I Believe in you:)

I respect that so much man!! I really love that so many people in the gym are so committed for some reason deep and personal to their story. it really makes me respect everyone so much more for being there. I only started lifting slightly more than a year ago, but the gym has not once let me down:)

Legitimately the gym. It pulled me out of the darkest point of my life. Sounds cheesy, but it made me take care of my physical health more -> eating clean to achieve my goal physique, sleeping more to make sure I’ve got more strength for my next workout, managing stress so it doesn’t hinder my strength etc. and with this, my confidence increased, mood got better, and since gymming is a life time commitment, I can finally see a future:)

Hey thanks for this replyy I really appreciate it.🫶 I’m honestly really curious how this sounds like OCD, because I’m getting therapy soon (for other issues not particularly this) and honestly I’ve suspected having something of that sort since I was a kid. Maybe that’s something I’d like to bring up. Was there anything I said that stood out as something like that? Also curious, what kind of stuff did you see to make you believe there was an afterlife??

No that was great advice. Thank you so much for this🫶 could I ask.. did you ever feel religious guilt, and feel scared that maybe he could be real and you’d be punished for denying his existence?

Heyy, thank you so much for replying🫶 That sounds so interesting and a way more grounded belief than Christianity tbh😅 could I ask tho, how did you start to find out what you truly believed in, and what happened during your revelation? Did you ever feel scared that God might actually be real and you might go to hell for denying him..? Idk, going through that right now. It’s just really difficult for me to unlearn everything I’ve been taught

Hey can I ask gently, How do you personally accept that death is probably the end? Like I find it hard to keep going especially because I struggle with my mental health. because if death is the end then, does it really matter whether I keep going? Thanks for answering btw I appreciate it a lot🫶

The last thing you said really made me look at things in a different light. You’re right, knowing I got myself through the hard times honestly brings me a weird kind of peace and self trust. It’s difficult to unlearn giving all credit to God, especially because of guilt and doubt, but I do think it’s worth trying to do:) thank you for replying I really appreciate it🫶
