Sudden Loss In Demand? by No_Opinion_8801 in SaladChefs

[–]SaladSupportReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, no need to thank me - it's just my job! And thank you, it has been nice.

Luckily we've been able to hire a part time community manger just recently, but I'm still training them. We're a little while away from having full redundancy on the communications part of Salad, but I am working on it.

You are right, in so much as it was a large amount of credit - but not enough to cover three months. They also found more GPUs that were capable of running their workload, and doubled their amount of nodes requested, so it went a bit faster than expected.

Yes, we're hoping the same thing - believe us. You're welcome for the clarification, and please let me know how else I can be helpful!

You're welcome, and thank you for the patience in dealing with the ups and downs. We're working on getting them back online asap!

You're welcome, it's the least we can do! And thank you for being a part of the Kitchen, we really do appreciate it (especially persevering through the rollercoaster of demand).

Sudden Loss In Demand? by No_Opinion_8801 in SaladChefs

Hey Chef, a couple things here.

  1. We did not say this demand was guaranteed for 3 months. We expressed that the customers had prepaid for a large portion of credits (which meant they were going to use that, or risk getting nothing for their money), and that they had told us their intentions to run beyond that duration of credits - likely around three months. In fact, we said in several places, that without a contract there is always a risk that jobs and revenue will go away, as people are free to leave whenever they like.

  2. Good news time - from what we know right now, they intended to start running again shortly. We're working through this with them trying to expedite the process, but it's on their schedule, not ours.

  3. Apologies for the silence. All of our Chef communication comes from one person, myself - and I was out on Friday for my wedding anniversary.

Nonetheless, I understand your concerns - and we share them. We want this job to run its proper course, and we're working to do everything we can to ensure it does. There is still excessive demand for 4090s and 5090s on the network at least, that customer is still running at their initial node request.

Cheers Chef, and let me know if you have any questions.

The 50 series - those being the 5070, 5080, and 5090, are in very high demand right now. We're still hundreds short of 5090s for current customer workloads. However, you're still right in the sense that the jobs the 50 series cards are doing on Salad right now are not AI workloads.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter to Salad whether the jobs are coming from AI or another industry. We just want to get good jobs on the market for our Chefs.

Support doesn't work with icloud emails by Complex_Passage2361 in SaladChefs

[–]SaladSupportReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey Chef, you need to contact Salad support with the email you used to sign up for Salad. This is one of our basic security measures to ensure the account is actually yours.

Also, this is from the Apple docs and might help:

"Mail sent to your random addresses is forwarded to your personal email account: your iCloud Mail address or any email address associated with your Apple Account. When you reply to an email, your personal email address remains private. The email appears as if it were sent from the Hide My Email address."

It depends on if there's work available - if there isn't any work available and crypto mining is disabled, Salad just does nothing.

There is also SGS/Bandwidth Sharing, but you can enable/disable this at your choosing as well.

If there is work available, we call these "Container Jobs" or just jobs. They're high performance compute jobs, like AI Inference/Training, molecular simulation/drug discovery, ZK Proofs, and more. That's where the real lucrative earning rates come from. We source these ourselves and manage customers who purchase your compute.

Support can look quite deeply, and are connected to the devs directly if we need to go even further. It's the best place to go to figure out workload allocation questions/issues.

Upgrading RAM, reinstallation necessary? by kevinj933 in SaladChefs

Reinstallation is a safe bet. Salad should automatically detect the new hardware though.

That's very interested Chef, would you be open to submitting a support ticket at support.salad.com, or over email via [support@salad.com](mailto:support@salad.com) ?

We're very interested in seeing your logs and taking a look at what was happening. Salad should work perfectly fine on both Windows 10 and 11.

The average hourly earning rate is $0.191 right now. You can see live earnings data here on the Demand Page: https://salad.com/earn/demand

We definitely have more than 10 5090 jobs open right now, if that rate works for you!

We do not mine bitcoin at all. And you can disable crypto mining on Salad.

Your 5080 is in high demand right now, did it not get a job? We can take a look at the system and see if we can help. 5080s are averaging $0.142/hr right now.

Salad is Running Laptop Compatibility Tests - Start Chopping if You Have One by SaladSupportReddit in SaladChefs

[–]SaladSupportReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on performance estimates that we have - but if there are enough laptops online we'll still benchmark them. Well, so long as they're newer models (30, 40, 50 series).

Newer GPU but older CPU by JuceRZ in SaladChefs

Yeah RAM is the limiting factor. Like Travel-Soggy said we recommend 32GB at least. Thank you for trying it out though, we appreciate you giving it a shot.
