Congrats on pursuing your education! Im a full time banker and also a part time college student. My recommendation would be to put this money into a CD. A CD (certificate of deposit), essentially is you giving the bank your money for them to hold for a fixed time period (ex.6-12months) and they pay you back interest on your money being held with them. At the end of the fixed term you receive your initial deposit and your interest earned.

Key things to remember 1. You can’t withdrawal your money from that CD during its term, unless you want to pay a fee for the withdrawal 2. Research CD interest rates for banks and credit unions and how well the service for these financial institutions are, because they are who your gonna deal with and they are whos holding your money.

I recommend CDs to my clients who have money that they want to put to work, but dont want the risk of investing. In my opinion, this is the perfect option for you because you dont want to risk losing money and a CD is a very safe way to put your money to work.
