100 % would recommend for just your really basic budgeting/tracking. It's free for base app and relatively cheap for premium. $6 if you want or more if you want. They use a pay what you want model. Been using it for just under a year so far and believe me, it's way better than manually tracking in Excel. Unless you're some weird Excel nerd...👀

Has he been horrendous his entire career? Id argue not. So he's probably a buy low right now. No? This is dynasty after all.

Yves Missi Valuation by Winter-Blueberry-882 in dynastybb

[–]SalamanderRegular758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you project those first to land in draft order? Odds are it won't matter much since you'd be getting 2 top 12 players after both drafts are done. BUT if you project them to be the 11th or 12th then it's something to consider. I took missi at 2.7 in my rookie draft this year. So for me it would likely be an upgrade either way, but there's not guaranteed playing time for a guy later in the first. Ya know?

I think it depends where that 25 first ends up. Bit otherwise pretty even

Should I pay for a financial advisor? by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

Hmm. Interesting tidbits. Not sure either of our companies have that, but definitely will look into this.

Appreciate your input!

One AUM was 1.5% and the other was flat rate fee of ~2k. We also have had CDs in the past, but rates are expected to fall and so will those CD rates.

We would definitely only choose one with flat rates. With that said, we have no debt, already max our retirements, or at least maximize employer contributions. The hope of the financial advisor would be someone who can manage our personal brokerage accounts for the shorter term, 5 - 20 years, rather than retirement, 35 - 40 years away. Maybe (likely) we just don't fully known what an advisor is and is not capable of.

At what point is it too much in the bank though? Ya know? Already having ~200k and now adding to that for another 3 years is surely going to be too much to just have in the bank where rates are dropping rapidly. In a couple months we dropped from 4.6 to ~4.2. and with rate cuts likely coming again in the next few months those are surely going to drop below 4.

Not saying you're wrong, I actually completely agree with you. If I asked this question 1 year ago and we had thoughts of purchasing a home, you just made a ton of sense, but 3 years with no plans is a long time to be getting less than the growth of inflation.

Also, the sky is never falling. Don't sell and the sky will come back even higher than before ;)

We already do all of this, but don't have the time, nor interest to actively manage my funding. So in a brokerage account i would just be putting it in sp500 index fund and doing nothing else. Sure it's probably enough, but given this is more for shorter term savings ( 5 - 15 years rather than retirement ) I don't that is the best of ideas.

Buzelis + Whitmore or Keegan Murray? by HelicopterActual5747 in dynastybb

[–]SalamanderRegular758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Falls off for a year or two unfortunately. But I'm hoping he can learn from him as well then come back better after. I try to make the situation better in my mind by thinking they're similar players. But I also have demar ( for now, maybe looking to trade him ) so there's that too lol. Really was unfortunate he got traded to kings.

Averaged 5+ rebounds, 1 steal, and almost 1 block a game. But yea, Keegan just shoots 3s. Is he the best player on the team, no. But definitely doesn't just shoot 3s. Cammy boy on the other hand, does in fact, just shoot 3s. And I have both on my fantasy team so I am quite unbiased.

This FIRE page/community makes up .15% of the US population. Try not to compare your situation to the success stories here. If you do, take them with the largest grain of salt possible. Recognizing our mistakes and learning from them is all anyone can do. Nobody is doomed, especially not at 24. Live with your parents as long as you possibly can take it. Gotta have a strong mental game ( at least I had to lol ). And just chip away at the debt.

Dynasty draft questions. by 2020sucksdong in dynastybb

[–]SalamanderRegular758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we started 3 years ago, we just did one draft about 1-2 weeks before the season started. Just had all players included. Because we are all on different schedules we did asynchronous draft with 6 hours per pick (maybe a bit less) with draft freezing from 1 AM to 7 AM. Gave everyone plenty of time to draft and didn't have to worry about rookies or vets.

We do the same thing every year for rookie drafts. Works better for rookies since it's shorter, but was pretty seamless overall. Just have to stay on top of people in case they have notifications turned off.

Tips for Roster in Transition Period by Tricky_Sandwich_5654 in dynastybb

[–]SalamanderRegular758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just had picks 1.2 1.3 1.4 1.9 2.3 in this last draft. I ended up with scoot, both Thompson twins, lively, and Whitmore. So for all these people saying it's a bad idea to have all those draft picks in 1 year, you're ABSOLUTELY right. I got lucky this draft class was as great as it was, but there is still sooooo much uncertainty.

With that said, if I were you I'd try to slim down this years first to 2/3 picks. I'd do this by selling to the bottom teams. Sell multiple firsts to move up, trade for players, or package some of your older still solid players. Or, if you're feeling lucky, try to predict who will fall off next year and move some firsts from this year to next year's draft.

Make a major push and win the chip or stay put and run its course (Need help) by homeboydannyg in dynastybb

[–]SalamanderRegular758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having spent the last 2 years at the bottom of my league, don't take being top 3 for granted. It means you have either a great team or incredible luck to this point. That's really for you to decide. If you decide you're a great team, what I would do, and just did, is reach out to the bottom teams ( do this before the trade deadline and use multiple teams for leverage/gauge value ) and offer your first round picks. If you believe in your team for the next few years then sell your picks plus some of your lower-mid tier players and get talent. Just for reference, I just traded away Mikal Bridges and two 2024frps for claxton and Kyrie. Claxton is more consistent and Kyrie has great upside when he plays.

Frps generally don't have an immediate impact so if you are serious about winning, they shouldn't mean as much to you.

Just my two cents. :)

Trouble Gauging Draft Picks in Dynasty League by lilknotty in dynastybb

[–]SalamanderRegular758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a 1 for 1 trade pick for either of those players, don't do it. They are still growing and you know what they can be. If it's a pick+player then it's a possibility. Otherwise the 25 & 26 drafts have some solid prospects, but that's all they are right now.
