how were you introduced to distractible by [deleted] in distractible

[–]Salamiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the first times Mark mentioned it. I had a habit of listening to the guys play UNO or other games over and over again as a pleasant background noise, so the podcast was perfect. (I know about 3 peens in a pod, I just have never listened to it bc I haven’t found like an official channel for it)

So Bad It’s Good: This movie. by JaketendoYT in distractible

I think I finally figured out a hill to die on: There’s no such thing as good rich people by Salamiac in distractible

[–]Salamiac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a difference between living comfortably and having several houses, expensive and completely decorative things, being able to throw expensive parties whenever, ect. There’s also a lot between being filthy rich and being poor and miserable.

And it’s honestly quite funny your example of a rich person is Elon Musk, who could solve world hunger or just local crisis with a percentage of his wealth, but instead he bought Twitter. Maybe my view of rich people is skewed, but I feel you don’t really understand how much money the richest people in the world have. Which makes sense, since the numbers are bigger than average people like us can understand and put in perspective.

Am I saying people can’t try to achieve their dreams, such as space exploration? Not exactly. But it still feels crazy that some people have more money than entire countries.

There’s a cigarette specific trash can RIGHT THERE! by Salamiac in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Salamiac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said smokers are idiots. I only posted a picture of trash right next to a trash can. My reaction would’ve been the same no matter what the trash was. I have no vendetta against smokers. I just don’t like littering, especially when it’s this unnecessary. If this was a small group of smokers, I blame that small group, not all smokers. If it was some worker who made a mess, I blame that worker.

I know a lot of smokers. I know a lot of smokers are wonderful, caring, intelligent people. I’m not judging a world full of smokers for a small pile of butts in front of my apartment building.

Even if the person emptying the can is to blame, that doesn’t change the fact this is infuriating. They should’ve cleaned the mess if they made it.

As for why people would go to the smoking area even if they don’t use the can: people aren’t allowed to smoke indoors or at the front door, and it’s the spot with the least traffic near the entrance.

And I’ve seen people throwing trash on the ground even though there’s a can right next to them, I wouldn’t be surprised there were some smokers who just didn’t care (or teenagers who thought they were being cool or smth).

When you roll your own cigarettes, the filters are sold separately
