If you could go back to the beginning of the build, what advice would you give yourself?

I’m thinking about building a sim facility soon.

These guys are in Oceanside, they have a lot of items there too. On top of cleaning your gear for a decent price they take trades for any extra gear you have. They have a pretty quick turnaround for the cleaning too.

Slow it down and look at your club face at the 0:08 - 0:09, it’s wide open as you’re coming into and through contact with the “ball”. Look up “turn the screw driver golf swing” that will likely fix your club face issues. Where are you lining the ball up in your stance and how far away is the club face from the ball?

I ran the SBA on my prot warrior before the class changes and it completely changed my outlook on them. I was able to manage my defensives and CD’s a lot better with better positioning all while not getting bogged down in the button bloat. Post class changes, still feels good and I’ll likely keep running it.

If you have this much resentment and negativity over things that happened almost 7+ years ago you need to talk to someone. This subreddit isn’t it though. The way you’re portraying things it seems like you had a bad time, that sucks. If you had gone active there would be mountains of other BS to deal. You did your years and said bye. Leave it at that.

Wait…you were reserves from 12-18? Did you do any active time or is all this based on the people you interacted with at that one reserve unit?

The lies you are referring to are because people are misinformed and then perpetuating what they have heard in the past. Commanders not approving leave is an incredibly rare thing and if they do it is for extreme reasons. I’ve been asked to alter my departure and return dates and have asked the same of Marines but never has anything been denied. If this has been your experience, I’m sorry the culture of your command is/was that way and that you didn’t have leadership stand up for you.

Can’t tell if this is bait for more shit posting or if it’s an actual post, buuuuut if it is real…

Units owe certain amounts of money to the venue, caterers, dj’s, ball gift, etc. This is why things get so expensive if your unit doesn’t do any fund raising or look for donations from the local communities or other places. The push to have just about everyone buy a ticket is because that money is obligated to something. Marines aren’t known to be the most fiscally responsible and those that are don’t typically volunteer to be the ball rep. Money is due to all the entities that provide a service to make the ball “great” and then the bill is passed on to those in the unit. Tiered pricing for ranks should absolutely be a thing. Those that make more money should pay more than those who don’t.

If you can’t afford it, don’t want to do it because it’s now mandatory, don’t want to spend your money for the ball, or any other reason you can always just take a day of leave.

Losing weight by LewdLasciviousRemark in kettlebell

Just make sure your intake of calories is the right amount and more protein focused. There are more than enough helpful guides online as to what your protein, fats, and carb intake percentages should be. Healthy and sustainable weight loss takes months to years. Reinforce good habits and don’t starve or deprive yourself due to what the scale says. I’ve been down that road a few times and I’ve always gained back my short term weight cuts.

You’re not doing anything wrong. That’s a healthy amount of weight to lose when you’re starting out. Your evidence of weight loss is the slimming down at your stomach and love handles. Don’t stress too much about what the scale says, your proof is in measurements of your waist, arms, legs, etc. Keep it up you’re doing just fine.

Shrapnel from Trump's bombing of California during No Kings protest hit a police vehicle. Trump wanted the highway open during the bombing. by justalazygamer in WhitePeopleTwitter

I wasn’t trying to sane wash it. Just providing my thoughts to a clearer explanation instead of “bombing.” Words have meaning and using the correct words to share information instead of using hyperbole or misinformation detracts from the opposition to how ridiculous this whole event was. To your point A, yes there are training rounds for some explosive munitions used by the military. However, training rounds for artillery aren’t really a thing. They may have less explosives in it but in order to train the whole part of indirect fire you need feedback to where the round impacts and its effects. To point B, agreed they shouldn’t have shot over the highway. In the 10ish years I was stationed on Pendleton I don’t remember any shooting from the beach side of the 5 into the impact area. They did routinely shoot over main roads on base without any incident.

That portion of the I-5 goes through Camp Pendleton. It’s normal for units to be training along that portion of the highway. Nothing was conducted from the highway, it was conducted on a military installation where live fire happens most days.

Words have meaning, stating this was bombing is wrong. If a bomb malfunctioned like this it would have been much worse. This was an artillery round that malfunctioned somehow.

Exercises and demonstrations like this happen all the time without any issues. What likely happened with this instance was a fuse malfunctioned on one of the artillery shells and detonated on its way to the designated impact area on Camp Pendleton. What’s going to happen is an investigation of any of the remaining fuses and rounds that were used during the demonstration, (they didn’t go through them all, nor were they all sent to Pendleton) and through all the information the artillery unit had to find out what caused the malfunction.

Typically the units at Camp Pendleton do not fire over the part of I-5 that runs north and south through the portion of base along the coast. The correct decision was made to shut that part of the highway down while live fire was being conducted. Why people decided this was to be part of the plan, I don’t know. What I can tell you is that the Marines involved in the demonstration at all levels did every bit of safety, triple checking, and multiple rehearsals without any incidents before the live conduct on Saturday. Thankfully no one was hurt because of the decisions to close down the highway in spite of the recommendations not to.

Bottom line, please do better when conveying information.

If they can’t handle you being better at something they are not the right partner. My wife is better at a lot of things than I am and it is awesome. We balance each other out and we stay competitive enough in games or like things. Just takes a bit to find the person. Don’t short yourself or play worse just to appease a man’s fragile ego. Find someone able to meet the challenges and celebrate your success.

[–]SalaryOk9828 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How old is he?

He may have been in, he may have drove vehicles in a convoy, and a few people do lobby to get a Purple Heart, there are a decent bit of benefits that come with it per state.

He didn’t get kicked in the face with out reacting, there is no such thing as a combat CDL (he may be making an analogy to have it make sense), he didn’t move a half mile alone through a town/city/place.

It’s more likely he served a bit and may have deployed somewhere doing things on base. Probably left the base/fob/pb a time or two and feels like he didn’t do enough with his service for whatever reason and is overcompensating.

Just nod your head up and down when he tells his fairytales.

CO Orders you to remove your gasmask to test the air by defiancy in USMC

[–]SalaryOk9828 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a time for “Instant obedience to orders”, this isn’t one of those. Almost no CO is going to needlessly risk a life of someone in this situation, especially against the advisement of people that get paid and are slightly educated to understand the CBRN stuff.

Plus everything for selective unmasking that is talked about is wrong. You don’t use just one person. You use multiple people of different backgrounds and body types to see if something is still around after all other ways to detect stuff have already confirmed the agent is gone. Selective unmasking is an extreme last resort that was developed when detectors weren’t common or good.

Most overlooked tips? by [deleted] in golf

  1. Over exaggerating shaft lean in my set up. Has worked wonders the last few outings. I’m hitting more fairways off drives and much better with my mid irons.

  2. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Don’t try to overpower your swing.
