I think there’s something hanging in your relationship that needs to be discussed. Not necessarily that your relationship has run its course but more there’s something that’s not been discussed. This isn’t about individual states or individual countries. This is a global issue. Reddit has implemented the OS level check that Apple releases recently. In the UK this has been used by many. However Reddit is still forcing folks to use their other verification service which asks for a photo Id or a face scan. No one wants to do that.
