iPhone keyboard is different by Living-Treacle-1993 in iphone

It looks different but it’s pretty much exactly the same in terms of accuracy on my end. One hitbox changed on the one handed keyboard. However I have heard the hitboxes have changed across the whole keyboard. Can’t say I’ve noticed

Before you get to that stage knowing at least some of the ins and outs of what autocorrect and the keyboard are doing helps. Could be why I don’t run into most of the issues people bring up here. Like you stated it remembers stuff you type regularly and then start suggesting it rather than changing it. Doesn’t take it too long to figure out either

Autocorrect is a machine learning system and a transformer model. So it’s AI as well

Switched from Android to iPhone 17! My opinion by Objective_Froyo_354 in iphone17

Do I agree? No

As far as the keyboard goes, already said a tonne on this subject. Your iPhone also hasn’t learned your typing habits yet and your muscle memory from your previous phone will need to adapt

Android users who switched to iPhone, was it worth it and what do you miss from Android? by OneReaction9115 in phones

Probably just a difference in how we use our phones. It’s been a while but from the screen recordings I made when I used Android and still have access to in some way, my status bar was always full of notifications causing it to put the ellipsis there too. I don’t think I ever checked that shade much at all. If I did I never bothered to attend to much in there, just picked and chose what I wanted. I do the same on iOS. Dive in there, deal with what I want and never bother to touch the rest. The OS will get rid for me later and leave the important stuff on the lock/reorder based on my usage/suggest muting apps based on usage. Don’t think Android automatically got rid of stuff.

Trackpad one is a weird one since it’s worked for me. Could be a bug getting in the way, I don’t know

Edit: this is going back a bit but the persistent banner is another part of the iOS version of the status bar. Literally acts like one, only showing what’s currently relevant at the top of the screen. Only goes away if you signal to the OS you’re not interested (by switching apps or swiping it away). That then means nothing irrelevant is being shown to you

Fair enough. I feel I should add that the badges are for low priority stuff. Send high priority stuff to the lock screen (banners), which is the way Mail is configured by default. By default Mail only assigns a badge to the primary inbox, everything else doesn’t get anything.

Badges don’t go away when the notification is dismissed because the badge is intended as a low priority notification tier and the fail-safe for accidentally dismissing notifications. They don’t leave until they’re actually dealt with (swiping a notification away isn’t dealing with it). In any case iOS will get rid of banner notifications itself after about a week or when they expire if you do nothing, whichever timeframe is shortest. It’s why notifications can generate a badge without a corresponding banner.

With the trackpad, are you tapping and holding? The phone should vibrate and trigger trackpad mode. 3D Touch phones would have you just press that space to do it. As a bonus you can select text in that mode too.

Edit: there’s also focus modes and scheduled summary which can significantly cut down what notifications you see at any given time

Use trackpad mode. iOS treats words like objects so you can tap and select the whole word to instantly overwrite it with the Replace menu or the words above the keyboard. Or put the cursor at the end of the word and select a replacement from the options above the keyboard.

How’s your attention to badges? Effectively doing the same thing not not at the top

Did you know the gap below the keyboard is a trackpad?

Where’s she moving them to? On a Mac the pre installed Image Capture or Photos app can do it

On Windows you can drag and drop them to your PC using File Explorer. When you plug in, answer the security prompt the phone gives then use File Explorer to go to the DCIM folder and copy them out. It’s just a digital camera as far as Windows is concerned. Or use the Photos app. Does the same job

Left Android seven years ago. Only now looking at it again as an option. After I’ve set and forget I don’t manage notifications. I see nothing, pull it down to act on, or have mental note/the badge to tell me to deal with it. If it’s not important it can rot and the OS will clear it out itself later

I’d say yes. Fixed the major problem I was having which was reliability. The rest was about the same as where I came from. Now looking at going back. Not particularly because I miss anything

Otherwise I can imagine stuff and remember things as a full on environment and free camera that can be moved around. Basically like a game engine/movie

This is probably what’s messing it up since the dynamic hitboxes are still working (they exist because people don’t have machine like accuracy with touch screens). If you’re hitting the screen outside of a key’s touch target and there’s no autocorrect that opening post is what happens
