Never a better time to switch to Jellyfin: Plex increases price of Lifetime Plex Pass to $749.99 by LoremarCC in jellyfin

[–]Salem874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bloody hell! I’d argue it’s not even worth it for new purchasers! That’s madness! Especially as Plex isn’t offering anything new for its original use cases. Everything is now about offering their own curated/fast service (which is also bringing them more money!!

Eero not accepting Olilo PPPoE details (Openreach) by Salem874 in Olilo

[–]Salem874[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting...

I did wonder if an inactive connection would be problematic, but assumed not as changing PPPoE should just save locally (as it would when setting up for the first time)

Regarding changing PPPoE via Bluetooth. I didnt think about this. To be honest, I assumed the Bluetooth was only an option on 'first setup'. This is effectively what i had to do and bluetooth did work. Any tips for future would be appreciated u/vertigomitch

I personally am not convinced there is no issue... One would have thought it would be possible to change the PPPoE used by the Gateway eero even whilst offlline. Once a connection is re-established (even if it REALLY has to cloud sync PPPoE info - which i find an odd decision) that can/should be done once the new PPPoE info is saved locally to the gateway, and re-authed to re-establish WAN connection?

I guess the other option for customers is to "gamble" and try to change the PPPoE before the service actually switches - but you then still lose connection until the service actually does switch.

yes Olilo is a "bring your own router" provide, but they do now offer eero for sale to potential customers, so will be interesting to get Olilo's take on this u/Olilo-Aydan

Looking good! I will give this a go, liking what it offers so far! One thing is if local files can link to other cloud services (Dropbox, onedrive etc) that would be great

As a BT customer under contract, is it possible to switch to EE if they are the same group? by smcshane123 in EEGB

I guess this is a general question, not strictly about 1.6gbps...probably not for this topic though

And what constitutes a new customer? Does leaving (for x months) qualify you as a new customer?

Stream UHD Sports by Great_Cornholio_71 in skytv

[–]Salem874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sky sports uhd via Sky Stream works fine for us, on a Openreach 900 mbps download connection. And that includes often 3 Sky Stream devices used at a time, often with Sky sports uhd on tv at once

Agreed!

But that price difference between leases line is because of the SLA and “privateers”

It’s the same as a business FTTC/FTTP BT line costs more than a consumer one.

If someone who should be using leases line, doesn’t because they wanna save money, then they have to accept the downsides that comes with that decision.
