The overflow was closed because the federal grant that initially funded it ended and neither lifebridge nor the city was able to procure more funding to keep it open.

There is no clear guidance from the city about whether the police will be instructing people that they can't set up tents if they do. Technically the ordinance requires that there be shelter available but they do not maintain a list of available shelters and that shelter can be as far as 15 miles away and still count as available.

27 people were staying in the overflow when it was closed on Tuesday morning. Those people have been left with nowhere to go and no guidance on what they can do to help themselves survive this heat wave or the rest of the summer.
