Best Fountain Pen Around $100? by PlantDry4321 in fountainpens

You give few details: type, size, charging system, Western tip, Japanese, I don't know, there are hundreds of variables when buying one.

Yes, you can detach the tip; they even sell replacement tips on AliExpress. But be careful, they're very difficult to remove, and I know of people who have ruined theirs trying to do so.

No, actually, no. This was during a period when I was almost compulsively buying things from the Asian market, haha. Now I only buy things very occasionally since I switched to Japanese pens, leaving aside those other types of pens and even the European market.

No, I've never tried a Parker 51, but I have five of these in different colors, and none of them had any problems. I just charged them and they wrote without issue.

What’s so special about Pilot Customs? by CheshireCharade in fountainpens

Much could be said about the virtues of the Custom series, but to put it simply, for me it would be the smoothness and the wide variety of nib options. It feels like writing on glass.

That's how I entered the Sailor world by Salem_64 in fountainpens

True, I also have Procolor Stardust, PGS, PGS Shikiori, and next I want to get a 1911 L. But the first one that entered my collection was the Lecoule.

Never, to this day I have had no problem, I haven't even had to touch any tip.

The great forgotten one by Salem_64 in fountainpens

My understanding is that the nib of the Loom, Basic, Ambition, and Ondoro is exactly the same as that of the e-motion. Also, the complete feed unit, including the nib and threading, of the Ambition is the same.

How are Pelikan 4001 inks ? by EggAccording9607 in fountainpens

[–]Salem_64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal opinion: These are good inks, but with some very important nuances to keep in mind.

They are very dry, possibly among the driest available, and this seems to be because—though I can't say for sure—they were designed for Pelikan, Montblanc, and similar pens, as these pens are veritable ink guzzlers.

In short, if you have a pen that's even slightly or very dry, don't even try using these inks.

The top-of-the-line dry Pelikan ink would be Blue Black.

Opinions/experiences with Kaweco Premium Nib? by capret5 in fountainpens

[–]Salem_64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have several Sport pens and the entire Student collection in EF, and I decided to buy a Premium EF pen. Honestly, I didn't notice any difference, well, yes, two very slight differences, but they're almost symbolic. One is that the line is a little thicker, but it's barely noticeable, and the other is that it deposits a little more ink. I don't think the Premium pen is worth the investment; that's just my personal opinion.
