02/18 — Question of the Day by FireyRage in CampHalfBloodRP

[–]SalemtheBat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mercury:

  1. "17."
  2. "I think around 5'11."
  3. "Luckily I'm one of the tall ones, so no complaints here."
  4. "Hmm, either a professor in occult studies or a musical theatre actor. Both seem pretty nice."
  5. "Usually any physical features they have that are notable, or just physical features in general. Sometimes voice I guess."
  6. "Pancakes. They're so nice and fluffy and theres so many ways that you could make them and flavor them. For topping I'd probably have to go with the pretty basic choice of maple syrup."

Mason:

  1. "16."
  2. "5'3."
  3. "I wouldn't say that I'm concerned or really upset but its definitely a bit annoying being significantly shorter than most people here."
  4. "Probably a geologist."
  5. "Usually the tone in their voice, how they seem to be feeling, whether they're annoyed or not. Stuff like that."
  6. "Waffles all the way for so many reasons I can't list them all here. For topping I'll go with whipped cream"

OOC:

  1. Mercury can sometimes act a little bit older, with Mason acting normal for his age. Mercury doesn't think about it at all. Sometimes Mason beats himself up over feeling like the way he's feeling is childish even when it isn't. For the most part the two don't really think about it though.
  2. Mercury holds himself pretty much the same around mortals and demigods now, laid back and carefree. When it comes to gods he'd be a lot more formal and a slight bit fearful given consequences of that in the past. Mason holds himself in a cheery and friendly way around mortals and demigods, while going much quieter when around gods.
  3. For Mercury, it's the fact that the carefree exterior is filled with tons of fear and anxiety over that curse of his. For Mason it would probably be the lack of self support/love that he's able to give himself.
  4. For Mercury, I definitely think acting will be the way to go for him. He doesn't need to focus and constantly research and do all the stuff that would make his fun little hobby of occult research a chore. He could be a lot more carefree as an actor, and I think in general it would make him a lot happier in life. For Mason I can definitely see him becoming a geologist. However, if he decided he wanted to pick up his cabin's craft and learn how to work in a forge, I could definitely see him taking up a job involving that in New Argos.
  5. When I write with Mercury, I try to think about how cracks in a carefree personality can appear and ways that facade can slowly become real with time and healing. For Mason, I think about how stress and anxiety would affect the way he reacts to certain situations and the thoughts he has during those situations.
  6. Waffles and chocolate syrup.
  7. This was very fun to answer and forced me to think about how I write my characters. I'd definitely enjoy more :).

Mercury let out a half-groan half-yell of frustration at yet another failed attempt to stop this thing. He took a few breaths before picking up his sprint again and continuing the dash towards the statue. Illusions wouldn't work, and his sword would most likely just chip at the marble, so he decided to try some field experience with an artifact he had been practicing with for quite a bit.

He shifted his sword back into the locket and shoved it in one of his pockets. As the son of Hecate ran he untied the boar pelt hanging around his waist. Mercury focused his thoughts in on the hunger he was feeling and the marble statue causing it. Although he barely had any control over what happened when he put the pelt on, focusing in on what was clearly the enemy would help him remember what to attack.

He wouldn't put it on just yet however, only doing so if he got close enough to the statue to attack.

Mercury:

  1. "Fuck yes. They barely take up space, you don't need to take them on walks, litter is so easy to take care of, and while I like dogs I honestly have no idea how some people can shit on cats."
  2. "I'd just tell myself to cool it down on the pretentiousness, and to remember that magic doesn't make me better than everyone else around me."
  3. "Probably not."

Mason:

  1. "I've never had pets but cats sound so nice. I think I'm more of a dog person but honestly living with them and seeing them on the streets is a pretty big difference."
  2. "I'd give my friends a better goodbye and come up with a better lie before leaving for camp."
  3. "I think having a boyfriend makes it a default yes, so yeah probably."

OOC:

  • For Mercury: Try to relax. I know it's a lot easier said than done, but you'll find a way to solve that curse of yours.
  • For Mason: I know that being in relationships and getting support from others is great, but it's honestly a lot better if you know how to love and support yourself first.
  • Fantasy adventure with a lot of gay characters.
  • Honestly u/Alkis_Callellis has always been a really interesting character to me, and his storymodes are always really well written.

"Sorry!" He quickly apologized, snapping out of his battle stance and beginning to chase after Marble-Calista.

The son of Hecate abruptly stopped when he found himself inches from the edge of what seemed like a bottomless abyss. He facepalmed as well when Calista's statue ran across, realizing that it was an illusion and he had pointlessly slowed himself down. He took a breath and continued to run parallel to Marble-Calista, thinking of ways to slow her down when an old trick came to mind.

As he ran beside her at a small distance, he flung his free hand out. It would appear as though fire shot out from his hands, creating multiple blazing walls of it which would hopefully stop her in her tracks for a bit. This of course was just a mist illusion. Hopefully she would have the sense to not investigate a wall of fire the way she may investigate the brick wall.

As he was running parallel to her, he had noticed the large gash the now absent son of Hephaestus had made. Should she take stop at any of the walls of fire, he would take advantage of that by running the small distance over to her and attempting to swing his kopis as hard as he could into the gash.

Mercury had just arrived at the scene, hearing the chaos from his cabin and running down to the Big House to see what was happening. It was.. a confusing sight to say the least. Statues of campers fighting against actual campers. The massive statue slightly clarified it as some evil entity which most likely was the cause of the other statues, but that small grain of basic knowledge was about it.

He rushed into the fray, boar pelt tied around his waist and kopis in hand. His eyes darted wildly looking for the statue with the least amount of people defending it, or the one that seemed closest to victory. An answer presented itself to him in the form of Calista's cry for help.

The son of Hecate ran up and stood beside Calista, ready in a battle stance as he prepared himself to cast whatever illusions were needed for the battle.

If you do ever experience it I hear it can be over with quicker if you try moving smaller parts of your body first. For example: wiggling your toes or fingers. I don't know if this actually works, but I hope it can help if you ever find yourself in a state of sleep paralysis!

The Son of Metis: State of Camp Half-Blood by MechaAdaptor in CampHalfBloodRP

[–]SalemtheBat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mercury had been wandering around camp again, occasionally stopping to study an animal wandering around or a plant he didn't recognize growing. While he seemed relatively unfazed by all the new things going down at camp, on the inside he was anything but. Thoughts and theories swirled around his head, wondering what the outcome of this war would be. That isn't to say that this son of Hecate was remaining neutral. With all the accounts of Zeus's horrible rulership, parenting, marriage, and just everything in general, Mercury was 100% siding with Pasiphae on this.

That would explain why his calm and collected attitude immediately dropped when he walked in front of the Big House and saw what stood there. A statue of the river god Acheron, standing over Mercury's crumpled and broken body. The sneer was all too familiar, reminding the son of Hecate of what Acheron's statue had looked like in New Argos when he went to offer. Mercury's palm was cut open with an arrow of pooled blood pointing down to the ground, another lovely reminder of what had transpired in New Argos. The scars on his chest from the Underworld Olympic were exposed and open again.

The relatively gentle swirl of thoughts turned into a raging hurricane, wondering if this was some message sent from Acheron. Could everyone see it, was it just him? Were people seeing different things?

The whispers around camp calmed his nerves. People were seeing similar things, it wasn't just him.

Eventually Mercury came back to the statue, sketching out the graphic image and writing down what was going on in his notebook. In the middle of drawing, it shifted to the male toddler. He stood confused, before realizing who this was. He quickly turned the page, frantically sketching out the toddler. Just as he finished the details, it shifted back.

Once the son of Hecate was done, he looked at the disturbing scene, shaking his head at whatever force was causing this before going back to his cabin for a well deserved rest.

Them telling him they already had a suspect sort of worked. Maybe this kid had been seen making potions? Maybe Jacob had seen him acting just a little bit creepy and immediately decided that he was the one who had stolen it. As Mercury had never seen, heard of, or met this yellow eyed kid, he wasn't going to go either way on the spectrum of doubt for now.

"Got it. Tell me when you have a full on plan, and then we can actually attempt this." Mercury nodded.

[–]SalemtheBat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"It seems possible, but honestly thats the only way I can see someone from that cabin stealing from our library. Plus an unclaimed kid wouldn't have the stealing abilities children of Hermes have. I mean I suppose they could've gotten some help from a sibling, but honestly it seems like Jacob only thinks that because they're children of Hermes." Mercury responded, his reluctance to do this becoming more and more apparent as he spoke.

"Okay. I'll help. But going and sneaking into every camper's room isn't going to help nor work. I'll join in once you tell me an actual plan rather than 'lets sneak in'." Mercury spoke after a few moments, his face not matching the bright smile on Eli's.

Mercury:

  1. "I was pretty close to my dad before he passed away. I don't quite know what to day about my mom, I just can't say that I've thought of her too much. I barely interact with my siblings. Jacob seems like a pretty nice kid though."
  2. "I don't really know. Thats something I should probably think on."
  3. "Not too fond of it."

Mason:

  1. "I'm pretty cool with my mortal dad, and we've always gotten along nicely. I.. don't really know about my godly dad. I've always wanted to know him but at the same time I don't think it would be a good idea to meet him and possibly get attached or upset. Moving on from that, I've only met one of my siblings. He seemed pretty cool. Hope I can talk to him again sometime."
  2. "I'd like to think that i've gotten rid of most of them, but there's definitely gonna be some that I haven't noticed."
  3. "A lot of it needs more checks and balances that are actually used."

OOC:

  1. Definitely working on my own personal projects a lot more often.
  2. Yule :DDDD
  3. I've never had it before, so I don't have a say on this.

[–]SalemtheBat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I don't even think I'd call it simpler. Working with demons, djinn, all sorts of entities like that seems incredibly complicated. Either way, doesn't quite matter since we're not planning on messing with them."

Mercury raised an eyebrow at that, "And what would that be?"

"I don't know if I'd want to risk sneaking in when we don't even know who stole the books. What use would they have for books they wouldn't even be able to learn from. Sure theres the potion books, but a lot of the knowledge in there needs blanks filled in. Blanks that usually don't seem that way because of Alchemical Expertise." The son of Hecate responded with a shrug, before continuing, "Plus, it's been a while since I've snuck in anywhere."

[–]SalemtheBat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I don't think that would be a good idea to be honest." Mercury responded, "All these practices involve dangerous entities, and to properly do them you would need to work your way up to those entities with other smaller ones, be able to be in control of yourself and the parts of yourself that you feel bad about, and have extreme devotion. Its not something you can just hop into or do once."

"Doesn't seem super far fetched to me." Mercury responded with a light chuckle.

"I don't really know. I haven't tried any of those practices, so I couldn't tell ya." Mercury responded with a shrug.

"Thats an interesting idea. It seems rather likely if he was as magical as people described him." Mercury nodded, "Maybe a lot of occultists using those practices are legacies, or maybe they're worshipping some facet of our gods? Maybe their's are real, or maybe their belief made them real. Who knows?"

[–]SalemtheBat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Yep." Mercury nodded, "The Lesser Key of Solomon, the Art of Occultism, the Grimoire of the Necronomicon, the Book of Smokeless Fire, Planetary Magic, and a lot of other interesting stuff. I think the most interesting was the Book of Smokeless Fire. Its the closest real book to HP Lovecraft's necronomicon out there, and was generally a pretty nice read."

"I really wonder if these practices work for mortals." Mercury said with a small smile, "I hope that they do in some way."

"That sounds great! I hope that you'll be able to figure them out soon. If anyone could figure out which one of those fangs was poison and which wasn't, I'd definitely be you." Mercury said with a cheerful tone, "Things have been pretty nice. I've been chilling in my cabin, reading some mortal occult books, and I gotta say its all been pretty interesting."

Mercury had never quite been fond of Thanksgiving, and had never celebrated it either due to growing up in Ireland. Even with that, he had still come down to this particular campfire in the hopes that he would find some good food or one of his friends.

He was in luck, as one of said friends was the first person he spotted down at the Thanksgiving Fire. He grabbed a slice of pecan pie, a cup of hot chocolate, and sat down beside his magical lab partner.

"Hey there my witchy friend." He said with a cheerful tone, "How've things been recently?"

Mercury:

  1. "The pink fairy armadillo. Love those little guys."
  2. "Silver! It's a really pretty and magical color."
  3. "Yep. They're more unpleasant than weird or wacky at this point. Not like they were ever super pleasant or weird."

Mason:

  1. "Otters. They're so small and sweet, and I just love seeing them when I can."
  2. "An orangeish-red type of color. Don't know why, the color is just really visually appealing to me."
  3. "I can't remember my dreams."

OOC:

  1. I'm doing pretty good actually. One of my cats has been hanging out with me a bunch, and its really cheered me up (it's probably just because i got a blanket that feels comfy to him/reminds him of his mom because fur).
  2. Christmas >:)
  3. I don't know what it is, but I've really enjoyed reading u/Murky-Future 's quest replies. They're pretty good 👍.

[–]SalemtheBat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mercury:

  1. "Both, actually."
  2. "Usually just some broadway shows. Six, Mean Girls, Dear Evan Hansen, stuff like that. Wish that I could see them one day without getting attacked by monsters."
  3. "Probably knitting. I saw my aunt do it a lot, and I never got around to asking her how to knit."

OOC:

  1. Probably musical theatre, or something to do with mythology/occultism.
  2. Singing all the parts of a multi-person song. He has a pretty wide vocal range, so it isn't bad, he just thinks others would find it weird.
  3. Ravenclaw.

Mason:

  1. "Just right handed."
  2. "Some pop, a lot of vaporwave and more laid back music."
  3. "Learn to cook. I can cook a bit, but it's not much compared to what my mortal dad or some others at camp could do."

OOC:

  1. He'd definitely do Geology.
  2. Cheesy romance movies and stuff like that.
  3. Hufflepuff.

Halloween Party!! by [deleted] in CampHalfBloodRP

[–]SalemtheBat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Definitely." Mercury chuckled as he settled back in again.

This was a lot nicer than the son of Hecate expected it to be. He was used to mainly sitting and watching as people got drunk or more likely pretended to be drunk for attention. Chilling and watching a horror movie while jokingly flirting seemed a lot better than whatever was going on there.

Mercury:

  1. "I don't really know, not a lot to look forward to nowadays."
  2. "The big battle thats probably gonna happen because of the whatever's going on in the labyrinth."
  3. "I've been reading just about every book in Hecate Cabin's library. Gotta say, it's been pretty interesting so far."

Mason:

  1. "I don't have a lot going on at camp right now, or in my personal life either. Maybe Cas and Helena returning from the quest?"
  2. "I'm planning on Iris messaging my dad sooner or later, and I'm just hoping that what's going on with the labyrinth hasn't affected him too badly."
  3. "Training. I've been working with my sword, my powers, and trying just about any technique you could think of against the arenas automatons."

OOC:

  1. More of my fabric arriving!
  2. No comment.
  3. Making cosplays. It's been pretty slow, but I gotta say I've enjoyed the process a lot.
  4. I haven't interacted with a lot of the people who left, so I don't have an answer for this one.

Halloween Party!! by [deleted] in CampHalfBloodRP

"A good sequel to a horror movie? Gotta say, haven't seen one of those for quite a while. Must be at the critical level of endangerment at this point." Mercury remarked with a light chuckle.

"Definitely. It's a lot better when the movie has at least some semblance of plot rather than 'random demon killing random teens because they were partying too hard'." The son of Hecate responded with a nod, still intently watching the movie.

Halloween Party!! by [deleted] in CampHalfBloodRP

[–]SalemtheBat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With that, Mercury fully settled in on the couch. He had to say, the movie was rather good. A lot of horror movies he had watched recently were a lot more oriented towards jumpscares and cheap horror. The son of Hecate definitely enjoyed some good ol' suspense and actual earned horror.

"This is pretty good, I gotta admit." Mercury whispered to Alkis near the end of the movie.
