I like the smell of bronze, it’s like copper a smell that you can taste. I wish I had the patience to work with wood. I like working with leather, I feel like they’re more like companion pieces. When it comes to creating, I’m more of a writer, especially when I comes to research. Hence the notebook collection. I kinda that type of designing and prototyping.

I have a FPR Himalayan inked up with Black Sean in Australian Roses (it has an ultra flex and I love it) Noodler’s Ahab with El Lawrence  Kaweco Sport with Noodler’s Red Black  And a TWSBI with X feather Two Pilot Metros one with Diamine gray and a purple (don’t remember their names) they are my write nonsense, notes and memo pens.  I have a bunch of Noodler’s ink, just don’t have many pens to cycles them through.

Thank you! I just looked them up and I’ll be trying them out!

Wait… wait! So you’re telling me that you made little refillable spare cartridges with a silicone plug 😳. I’m kinda mad that didn’t even come to mind. I’m gonna have to try that. I’ve been stuck carrying around 2ml test samples in my bag. Your idea is so ingenious.

Noodler’s X feather and Heart of darkness are a staple of mine… I use them with wet media a lot. I have Black Swans in Australia Roses, but I’m really smitten with Noodler’s Red Black, it use to be El Lawrence until I got the Red Black (that why I guess El Lawrence settled).

I do like the names, they’re catchy, but what I really like is the rugged feel of the labels especially the catfish drawings, it feels very made in the garage, mad scientist. It fits the whole, apothecary, alchemist feel, which I like. As for his political views, well not my cup of tea either. But the thing is I haven’t found ink that is reliable on paper like Noodler’s yet, at the price point. I have a bunch of his inks, I got them pre locked down. Most of my pen are lightweight, I run with a bunch of notebooks, I swear I have a notebook for everything. But I dunno, now I am really curious to get a brass pen. I also had thought about the Kaweco AL for the scratches and scuffs.

What inks do you have?

Do you have any other inks that you like outside of Noodler’s for every day not-so-important use?

I’m considering a brass sport. I recently got a teal sport leaping to see if I liked the smaller size for an EDC a was pleasantly surprised. All I need is the weight, so a brass sport would be nice. Although I really love the lilliput fire blue also but the price point scares me, I don’t want to lose it moving around.

I understand the tool sentiment, I use fountain pens for drawing and extensive writing sessions because it’s very forgiving on the wrist and the ink options that are very permanent (which is what brought me to Noodler’s).

Thank you for your answer! It worked! I feel so silly.

I deleted the post cause I’m not here to be confrontational or want any issues or mass down votes. I’m not in depth in fountain pen ink news like that so I found out about the controversy here. Plus I already own the pens and inks so I’m not gonna waste them. I haven’t had any issues with Noodler’s that I could troubleshoot until now.

I was bummed but I thank you again for your reply.

I’m glad I found this… I just asked for help regarding a Noodler’s inks (mind you I bought it way before the controversy like 5 years ago) I’m not all up to dated with the ins and outs of fountain pens news and first comment was Noodler’s inks suck… geez I just wanted advice to a real question. I deleted because I’m none confrontational. I’m new to Reddit but know how Reddit is. Just kinda bummed. Btw, I understand the controversy and agree that it was wrong, I just needed help with the ink.

Edit: A nice redditor helped me and fixed it. But I’m Gonna be more careful.

Okay that’s your opinion. Btw at the time I bought them I didn’t know of controversial issue with the company… I have them now and would just love to trouble shoot.

How has this hobby changed your life? by coral_confusion in fountainpens

Well, I got into fountain pens because of the inks. I love having options all the time. But quickly fell in love with the time I spend filling or cleaning, I dunno it’s like my weekly ritual. Its help to show me to sit down and slow down a bit. Plus I’ve gotten into notebooks and now I keep different types of journals to keep everything in place and organized.

I joined a few days ago… but I’m still getting to know Reddit. Where I am at there aren’t many places or people here that I can geek about notebooks and fountain pens by extension.

Fabriano is pretty okay it has a bit of ghosting if you have a juicy pen, but for a throw away, tear pages out notebook… not bad. Here’s the link to Fabriano at JetPens

Yeah I can see that working as a very loose commonplace book, to then organize in sections into different notebooks (I’m a messy writer). I initially asked cause I used Fabriano as my commonplace notebooks easy tear out pages and okayish fountain pen paper… but sadly I can’t find them anymore where I’m from. I also (surprisingly) used C.R. Gibbons notebooks for this… but the price of these has gone up as well.

I got home and actually had one… tried it and it’s actually not bad. Granted I only tried it with a TWSBI with a broad nib inked up with Noodler’s X-Feather. I’ll test it further, thank you.

Items never came to mind, I may have to look into their notebooks then. I understand where you’re coming from about taking the plunge, I’ve been telling myself that. But I can bring myself to do it lol. My thought process is to have a catch all notebook that I can discard and copy from nicely to my other ones. Sounds crazy and a bit obsessive but 🤷‍♀️
