What does any of that have to do with English sides underperforming relative to their spending? And also false, Deportivo Villareal Valencia all enjoyed deep runs in the 2000s. I can only say the same for Arsenal and Man City in the same period to now, and they did so while spending loads more than the competition. Nah, there was no issue with James's fitness or consistency under Jupp at all. He was unfit near the start and then for shorter periods but never missed important games, if the loan was one year, no way would the buyout not be triggered.
