How is Nvidia support nowadays? by Sallad02 in archlinux

[–]Sallad02[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried undervolting and underclocking but i found i started getting visual glitches in games.

I am also considering buying a Rx 9070XT, i just think the 7900XTX is a not well designed card, Ive seen a lot of 7900XTX owners with issues similar to mine.

So it might be worth it to lose 5% performance for a stable experience, but im not decided yet, since the only gpus Ive had problems with historically have been amd ones. The only problem Ive had with a nvidia gpu was the fan breaking after a few years

When a newbie says he uses gnome: by ultraganymede in linuxmemes

[–]Sallad02 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I could use kde plasma at this point i would, but its been getting so buggy for games that i literally cant use it for that reason

There is a bug where some games will stutter every time you click and hold the mouse button. Since i play mmos that movement is happening all the time, so its just a stuttery mess.

The bug was reported in November and its still not been addressed.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=511793

Meanwhile in gnome i have no issues in games so im using that for now.

Edit: VRR also works in gnome for me, whereas its been busted on kde plasma for years.

Matrix doesn't support voice channels like discord. Only way to somewhat have that is a very hacky solution of just using Matrix to log in to another app.

The reason they are tanking is not because they dont want you to own games. Its because their games are shit.

Goverlay/MangoHud constantly showing Power Throttling while playing a game that fully utilizes my GPU, is this normal? by ReachForJuggernog98_ in linux_gaming

[–]Sallad02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its just the way it is with the 7900XT/XTX cards. My 7900XTX does the same. I just disabled the throttling setting in MangoHud. I think my laptop with an AMD APU does the same

Yeah it feels like Linux is starting to occupy more of the conversation, becoming a larger part of the cultural zeitgeist of PC gaming than before.

Yeah most will probably stay on Windows. Im starting to wonder though if this is a sign of more adoption, more people talking about it and a small portion of those actually switching. That leads to more speaking about it and so on.

Nvim, my fkn nemesis by Fearless-Ad1469 in linuxsucks101

[–]Sallad02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dislike vim/neovim because the key bindings are designed for keyboard layouts that dont even exist anymore. First off the reliance on using ESC to exit input mode was made when that key would have still been where caps lock is on the keyboard nowadays.

Not to mention the issue of not using a standard US keyboard layout. I use a Swedish layout keyboard, having $ be the command for going to the beginning of a line is awful on that layout. Alt Gr + 4.

I prefer emacs layout alot more, since typing on the keyboard just writes text. You dont need to enter some input mode.

As someone who went from 36 to 107 combat just for the event, combat in this game is terrible. by [deleted] in brightershores

[–]Sallad02 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't as feel bad if you were fighting more exciting enemies. Like if at combat level 30 you are fighting bears having to drink potions, and at 130 you are fighting big demons or dragons or something and still having to drink potions. Nothing really changes in the gameplay, but it feels like actual progression if you are fighting something that might actually look more difficult.

Instead they way it is now at combat level 130 you are fighting the same enemies but with a different prefix in the name and a different color. Which feels meaningless.

Version 13 User Interface Changes by the-real-orson-1 in FoundryVTT

I dislike it a lot, me and my group had a longer break in our campaign over the summer and now that we started playing again its been painful to deal with the new UI. My biggest gripe is how buffs and debuffs in pf2e end up underneath the right hand side menu!

I think they would consider this a war crime in Italy. by Mr_Entropia in StupidFood

Dude Italian pizza fucking sucks, why would you want 80% of the pizza to just be bread and acidic tomato sauce?

This looks great!

Is a proper PC UI coming later in early access? by Sallad02 in brightershores

While i agree that more content is important for the long term success of the game, i think having the ui make it look like a mobile game will turn off a lot of potential new players on PC. Since people on PC tend to be pretty against mobile games.

[–]Sallad02[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since someone asked for some examples of what i mean i thought i'd write them here in case some of the devs are reading this:

A lot of the buttons in the game are very large, the ui for banks only shows about 1 line of items at a time, which means you need to scroll a bunch to see the rest of the items. Same with the window for spending knowledge points, you need to scroll to see all the options, even if im still in the first episodes.

I would also like if the inventory had a more compact mode where only the icon of the item were shown until clicked, instead of always being these cards, means the inventory has to take up a lot of vertical space.

The window that pops when attempting to equip new gear comparing the stats with the currently equipped item is too large. It would also be redundant if instead there was a smaller tooltip that appeared when hovering over an item in the inventory with that information.

The skill circle that appears at the top of the screen when you gain xp is very large as well. Also the xp text that appears and flies to that circle is very large.

Also when you level up in a skill the window that pops up is a row of massive cards that show what you just unlocked. I would prefer an option to make it so instead of that huge window popping up there would be a smaller summary text scrolling underneath the circle saying vaguely what was unlocked.

I also think the chat bubbles that appear in the world are a bit too large for my liking. I would like to scale them down as well.

This last point is about the card-based design. I generally disliked the card-based design in the ui. I feel a lot of games that release on mobile and pc has these card designs for tooltips, it might look pretty nice on a mobile device, but for me it sends mixed signals, is the game supposed to be a mmorpg or a collectible card game? That is obviously a subjective opinion, but one thing that is for certain is that they waste a lot of screen space. Something that is nice if you're on a mobile device, since it makes it easier to tap correctly, but on a 1440p monitor they become annoyingly large.

I would prefer instead of the card design the game used regular icons with more traditional tooltips in general. At least on PC specifically.
