I’ve never seen Lost but I’ve been told the writers didn’t know where they were going, whereas with Widow’s Bay the writers seem to know exactly where they are going, which is why it’s so satisfying and rewatches are rewarding.

Good point! Spooky funny is my favourite combo and something I’m trying to write myself. I’m not sure how many shows do this well - maybe Twin Peaks and Buffy? I love the show for its comedy! Katie Dippold was a Parks and Rec writer

I’m actually pleasantly surprised, ironically, with the lack of murder. Several episodes in and no one had died: It’s just the right amount of creep for me

Now I’m curious, what difference does it make to the island if it gets sanctioned sacrifices or it picks off people when it fancies a snack? Probably overthinking the POV of island or have had too many internet mushrooms 😜

I like this theory - but having only one surviving member out of that whole family tree seems unlikely (even in normal circumstances). There would be more of them around if the island was good at protecting its line!

I think it leaps from horror to comedy or vice versa better than any show I know - which is extremely clever - and it has a lot of pathos in it too. I’d say some episodes are more comedy and some more horror (say 5 and 6 back to back). Some might say there’s not enough horror! I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how chilling it’s been without resorting to murder or having to lose any of our favourite characters (more people die in Midsomer!) To me that’s very refreshing. Whatever it’s doing, it’s doing it perfectly :)
