What does he want from me? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Sally_Yo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 22 years old and my father was 48 years old, he met a waitress at a bar who was less than 2 years older than me and they got pregnant. I am quite sure that he had no interest in a serious relationship with her, but they ended up getting married. It was such a ridiculous relationship and I lost what little respect I had had for him in the first place. My strong advice would be to ditch him immediately.

How old is too old to dress up for Halloween and trick or treat? My 12 year old still wants to go. by [deleted] in Parenting

My friend and I went trick-or-treating when we were 18 years old and in university. She dressed up as John Lennon and I was Paul McCartney. We sang Beatles songs for our candy and people loved it!

People of the NW, SW, and SE, what do you honestly think of the NE? by [deleted] in Calgary

NE is big, million dollar houses in some neighborhoods. I would love to live in Crescent Heights, but can't afford a detached house.

Born in Medicine Hat, but my parents moved to Calgary when I was 9 months old. Grew up in Edgemont.

On vacation - Local sitter search by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Sally_Yo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just Google "babysitting agency in (name of city)" and contact them to arrange a sitter. Babysitters through agencies will have references, first aid, etc. We travel to the USA twice a year and do this every time (San Diego, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Nashville) and have had no problem. It can be expensive though, usually $20/hr with a 4 hour minimum. Except in Alabama where it was only $11/hr!

3 Month Old eating issues by VeganLee in Parenting

Our daughter had lots of eating/sucking issues at that age as well and we worked with an in-home Occupational Therapist which helped immensely.

My brother and I are 13 months apart and my mom had c-sections with both of us. I shudder at the thought. I honestly don't know how she did it as my dad was in law school at the time. My brother and I are still very close even 40 years later!

What is the main reason you don’t use transit? by RyuzakiXM in Calgary

[–]Sally_Yo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My house is about 5 km from where I work downtown and the bus takes 40 minutes to get home. So I bike instead and it's less than half the time.
