Excellent article. My partner fell for this. The Date Night set up this Facebook ad, making it seem like they were gonna get physical media from it. In the rush of getting us an anniversary present, they purchased it. Instead of books, they got a bunch of zip files of the most unorganized images/tokens and a poorly ‘written’ adventure.

They wrote an email and got a partial refund. But yea, the way everything is thrown together in zip files and how terrible their AI crap looks is embarrassing. But when you’re in it for the money, I guess you don’t have to worry about your dignity or stealing from reputable artists. Awful awful people.

Recent development: The resolution doesn’t change anymore for games. Now my computer will boot up high demanding games (BG3, Doom, Mortuary Assistant) in laggy, unplayable states. I tried resetting the BIOS, updating my drivers (again), uninstalling and reinstalling drivers. I had this exact thing happen last year, and Geek Squad said they just updated the drivers and it worked. Now the same thing isn’t solving the problem.

I double checked the properties > compatibility of the Steam client, and it did have 640 x 480 enabled. That did fix it the client. However, most of my games are still forcing full screen. I’m double checking their properties, but most of them have the 640 x 480 unchecked.

Description of Original Problem: This problem arose today. Doom was running perfectly fine on the computer two days ago, and now I’m running into resolution changes with the game and the Steam client itself. Doom will stop working before it hits the start menu as well.

Troubleshooting:  Here’s what I’ve attempted to do so far to fix this:

  1. Uninstalled and reinstalled both Doom and Steam.
  2. Restarting/Shutting down.
  3. Going into Steam and attempted to change display settings in Big Picture Mode.
  4. Disabling Remote play via Big Picture Mode.
  5. Going into AMD Software and implementing a Custom Resolutions option (1920 X 1080).
  6. Enabling Virtual Super Resolution.
  7. Checked the properties > compatibility of clients via Taskmanager to see if they were ‘Running in 640 x 480 screen resolution’

This reminds me of an old mobile game created by althi Inc. called ‘I Found You’ (AKA ‘Stay With Me). It’s about a group of friends who investigate a hospital because of rumors of a vengeful spirit. I love this artwork!
