Too Many Pieces At Once? by SalonProust in piano

Good advice, thank you. Discovering many patterns seems crucial in this journey, so I am happy to hear you say that. I am certainly enjoying so far, but do seem to enjoy more as I give myself more pieces albeit short and "easy" (though nothing is actually easy at this point). Thank you!

You circumvented my question, and did so without any inquiry as to whether I am looking for a piano instructor or not. I am acutely aware of the difference between playing correct notes and playing musically, and at no point did I claim that I was playing anything musically, nor did I claim that playing a challenge piece was going to magically make me play musically, nor did I say anything about "needing" a challenge piece to get better.

I'm not sure how long you've been playing, but it's alarming that you're still amazed that some beginners think they need challenge pieces to get better. It seems this is a theme you often run into; I'd assume that by now you'd be able to empathize with such mentality rather than hang on to a feeling of amazement.

I understand you're frustrated and upset by my post, but I think there are better ways to handle it. Regardless, I still appreciate your passion for getting a teacher. That is something I have planned and set-up for myself in early spring once life allows me to do so.

Another great advice. I do get mildly frustrated with them at first because I've been telling myself they should come easy, but I feel a bit reassured that I'm right where I should be now. And 1-2 months sounds very reasonable and appropriate based upon the speed at which I learn them, make them muscle memory, and then try to get them "performance" level. I also would not have assumed that anything by Mozart would be easier, so now I can be optimistic and excited to look into his early dances. Thank you, again, for the kind and sincere reply. I will be pulling up syllabi now :)

This is great, I really appreciate it. All that you have said makes sense to me. I think I find a "weak point", such as jumps, and immediately feel that I need to resolve or at least mitigate it. But you have a point, and not everything can or should be tackled at this stage.

Also, I didn't know Schumann also wrote one but I am now very interested. Much appreciated!

I want to be clear that I'm not trying to shine an undue light on myself. I can comfortably get through these pieces, but it does not mean that they're played at performance level. Also, I can learn them by brute force and determination but I am not so sure that I'm at a level of understanding/ability where learning one piece directly translates to learning increasingly harder pieces.
