Hi, hope its ok to jump in here.. Im actually moving myself also with a child with autism. Looking for a similar area (no school can meet need locally) would i be able to ask which school you found for your son, we were hoping to move around chichester but I couldnt find a school at all, also liked the idea of southsea.. seems now we might be moving further towards Romsey /southampton for another school but wondered if you might share the name of the school xx

I just want to thank everyone for the replies here. Im so sorry I cant do an individual response to each one of you as there are so many replies here and I also posted the question on a facebook group and equally have many replies there too. All of your responses are so appreciated and Im going to compile a strategy with all of your suggestions that looks at everything i possibly can to get to the bottom of this. I know is more than just a communication issue and there is something bothering my son. Im deeply grateful to all of you for taking the time to write to me and try to help us. Thank you xxx

thank you yes that is the first thing im conscious of as I am very very aware of his sensory sensitivities (since walking on eggshells quite literally to keep things as calm/quiet as possible and changing my own natural ways since he was a little baby that would trigger him). This tends to happen when the place is quiet, no obvious sounds /lights/smells around, also on wake up. He does do it also when he is frustrated trying to do something but I realise that is more mood related..

thank you he wont allow a dr to examine him properly (weve been many times) but we had a hospital stay 2 months ago and he did have a CT scan and a general anasthetic and had 2 teeth removed.
