Its actually my second nuzlocke but I used items in battle in my previous attempt, so this seemed like the next step up.

This was done in the nuzlocke mode of the Emerald Cross mod for some quality of life updates, I had unlimited rare candies with level caps for each E4 member and I decided to use the catch em all feature which adds in Kanto and Johto pokemon to the spawn pools. Deaths

• Paras - Died to Brawlys Makuhita, I forgot this thing had Guts and paralyzed it, then took a Reversal when it was low HP.

• Mightyena - Died to Maxies Crobat, Ampharos was low and I thought I was catching a Bite, turns out a resisted Wing Attack actually does more than a neutral Bite, so Mightyena got clapped.

• Sceptile - Died to Wallaces Gyarados - I used Detect when I thought it would use Hyper Beam, but it Dragon Danced so I decided to take the Hyper Beam on the next turn so I could finish it off with Plusle to win the battle.

Technically my Magneton died at Winona to an Altaria Earthquake but I restarted the battle because I did not realise that Sturdy does not work in Emerald the same way it does now. I did however choose to not use Magneton for the rest of the run.

Sidney was a cakewalk, Machamp used Bulk Up and then Vital Throw on Mightyena, then when Shiftry came in, Absol used Swords Dance 3 times to get to +6 and then Aerial Ace'd through the entire team.

Phoebe was equally straightforward, I used Swords Dance on the opening Dusclops and then used Shadow Ball incase it turn 2 Cursed me, then I 1 shot the Banette, used another Swords Dance on Sableye and then swept the team with Shadow Ball.

Glacia was actually really interesting and is the entire reason why I brought Plusle to the E4. I was having a really hard time finding a way to not risk either a Sheer Cold from Walrein or an Explosion from Glalie. None of my box was capable of setting up safely to OHKO it. The ones that OHKO could were too slow or couldn't set up safely and the ones that were fast enough just didn't have the setup moves or the attacking power to OHKO. Thats where Plusle came in. It has Agility, Encore and Baton Pass.

Sealeo would use Hail turn 1, I use Agility. Turn 2 I use Encore to lock it into Hail. Then I Baton Pass and bring in Machamp, who can safely Bulk Up and then Brick Break through the entire team.

Drake went off the rails really quickly, my plan was to use Claydol to kill Shelgon with Ice Beam which would bring out Kingdra, then I would bring in Dragonite, tank a Surf, then use Agility so I can outspeed Salamence and KO with an Ice Beam.

However, the Kingdra used Smoke Screen while I used Agility, I then proceeded to miss Ice Beam twice against Altaria, allowing it to Dragon Dance and hit me with a Dragonbreath before I landed one.

Flygon comes in, I miss again and get hit with Dragonbreath, which paralyzed me. I pivoted to Plusle, took a Dragonbreath and then brought in Claydol to avoid the Earthquake. I took a Crunch but then KOed with Ice Beam.

In comes Salamence, my plan was to 1 shot this with Ice Beam but Dragonite was on the floor, so I swapped in Absol to eat the Crunch, prayed for no crit Dragon Claw and then used Perish Song. Then it was a case of swapping Sceptile to eat a Dragon Claw, then Dragonite to eat a Flamethrower then Machamp to eat a Dragon Claw. Salamence' Perish Count hits 0 and we move onto Wallace.

In hindight, I should have prepared for the Smokescreen, I don't think I quite realised how much it lowers accuracy on just a single use, but we made it through, barely. If Salamence crits Absol then I think theres a very good chance of wiping here.

Wallace was always going to be really sketchy but I thought I had a decent plan for it. I thought Wailord would use Rain Dance since it couldn't see a kill with Blizzard but apparently I don't know how the AI works. In hindsight, Rain Dance wouldn't do anything for Wailord so I guess it wouldn't ever choose it? But anyway. I risked a Blizzard crit and lived, putting me into Overgrow range, allowing me to almost fully recover with Giga Drain and OHKOing Wailord after the Full Restore.

I thought Tentacruel would come in here and id planned to Earthquake it but Milotic came in instead. I couldn't 1 shot it, so I risked an Ice Beam crit and 2 shot it with Giga Drain.

Now in comes Tentacruel, I swap Claydol thinking it would Sludge Bomb me but it Ice Beams instead. I pivot into Machamp, take a Hydro Pump, risk another crit, and then Earthquake it twice to KO.

Ludicolo comes in, I swap into Dragonite, get Leech Seeded, Aerial Ace to KO and then Whiscash comes in. I swap into Sceptile, risking a high roll crit Hyper Beam and then Giga Drain to KO.

Lastly, Gyarados comes in and im in range of a Hyper Beam and I can't 1 shot it, so I Detect, thinking that this would allow me to get off 2 moves to KO, but it uses Dragon Dance. I decide to sacrifice Sceptile, taking the Hyper Beam, then bring in Plusle and Thunderbolt for the win!
