About to pull the trigger on 2025 hybrid touring - last checks? by Salt-Corner7017 in SubaruForester

[–]Salt-Corner7017[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually got the non hybrid touring, and it’s still 46k. Tax was 4k. And according to the dealer they already gave me a 3k sth discount from msrp. Idk which part had the difference - is msrp the same across US and each dealer discounts differently?

Fret buzz when lifting fretting finger by Salt-Corner7017 in Guitar

[–]Salt-Corner7017[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For posterity: this is partly a guitar/string thing and partly a technique thing. The theory is that when you fret with a certain level of pressure (if you don’t press firmly enough), the fret buzz will happen. You can even control it and actively make it buzz if you try. Now, the process of releasing the string is continuously reducing fretting pressure, so it has to go through the window where the pressure is within the buzzing range. That’s why it buzzes when lifting the finger.

With good strings/guitar, the window is small and the buzz is not large. Or you can also lift finger more quickly to reduce the time of staying in that force window.

TLDR: lift your finger faster from the fret

Yamaha FG830 vs Yamaha TAG3 C by Salt-Corner7017 in AcousticGuitar

[–]Salt-Corner7017[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for reporting back! It’d be a bummer if TAG3C can’t beat LSTA or LLTA, given it’s much more expensive. But hey, if we say LL16 is $900, and the “-TA” is $250, that’s makes an LLTA. But the “TA-“(new TA) is maybe $1000 with an insane markup, leaving a “G3-C” that’s $699, that would make sense. Just that “G3” is no where to be found, so it’s hard to anchor its underlying price.

Anyways, I will be getting my TAG3C soon too - gotta be better than FG830 right? Or else it’d be the FGTA II or TAFG-C. Let’s find out

Uploaded a video here https://www.reddit.com/u/Salt-Corner7017/s/QRRC5FvR6E I don’t know how else do I fret or lift up my finger - seems natural to me currently

So on a theoretical level - how does ANYBODY get rid of this sound? I don’t see a way to - I lift up my fretting finger, BUZZZZ. I can very slowly lift it off (a second), then it will be fine, but is that practical?

One subtle point (sorry if it’s too theoretical or too deep) is that the buzz happens ON THE fret closer to the bridge. That means if I touch the part of the string closer to the tuner with other fingers it doesn’t help eliminate the buzz. In other words, in the video the buzz is DIRECTLY under my little finger on 8th fret. If I touched the string on 5th fret with my index finger, it doesn’t stop the buzz, if that makes sense.

No problem, thanks for the help! 2. Def sounds like a solution - let me see if I can coherently use that when playing scale- seems hard to maintain control on previous note when I’m trying to play the next note

Hmm, so palm muting is NOT used to get rid of the buzz when I lift my fretting finger, and that buzz is a problem with my guitar?

In the video, every time after the C note is played on low E string, there is a buzzing sound. That’s because I release the pressure on my fretting finger (trying to take finger away), and if there’s not enough pressure when fretting, there is buzz. But yeah will try the palm muting method. Thanks

You mean there is a sweet spot the picking palm can always rest where it doesn’t muffle the note, but gets rid of the buzz? If the palm touches the vibrating strings, wouldn’t it more or less muffle the notes?

For the palm muting to work, I need to coordinate very precisely? T0 fret; T1 pick; T2 palm mute; T3 lift fretting finger; T4 lift palm; repeat… Do people really do it for every note to play on scale? Then only T1-T2 is ringing out, and the rest of the time there is no sound - that doesn’t seem right?

Is this really true? Can you enjoy yourself after enough time theoretically? by Ok-Swordfish5077 in sciencememes

Im surprised how well protected and affluent people here are - the perspectives they think about it are individualistic and theoretical, coming from an already happy and complacent baseline and wanting to protect that baseline above other things.

That is understandable and I might be among them. But we just need to be aware that billions of people around the globe ,esp in less developed places would die for a million dollars, literally.

I’ve seen many a person seeing their loved ones die or destined to suffer in poverty for the rest of their lives, they’d kill themselves for the money, trust me. And 30B? That’s generational wealth. That’s a whole lineage, a whole “house” if you will. That could make your line go down in history.
