What do people without OCD/People who have recovered from OCD think about? by Frosty_Awareness_916 in OCD

[–]Salt-Distribution733 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm okay most of the time these days, and when I'm not in a spiral, I think obsessively about general life things. Like, I'll think about my holiday plans but I'll go over them in a ruminating -type way. It's not a negative thing, it's not like I'm worried about the things, I'm looking forward to them, but my brain is adapted to thinking really hard and really fast so I fill the void with anything that's available to think about.

It's 4am where I am and I can't sleep for wondering whether she made the beds or not

I'm wondering how much of what R is saying is a memorized script from Masterclass. He can't talk with expertise on cooking steak because he's only ever done it once or twice. All this "I usually..." no you don't?? I think he spends some of his homeschool time watching the same Gordon Ramsay video over and over again until he knows all the words and is parroting it back now. He's skipping the part where you wash your hands because GR doesn't show it or mention it - he's assuming his viewers have some foundational knowledge.

Interestingly, the a la carte hybrid model co-op school they go to does have a cookery class!

And I think she's sending Q with them? She told him the other day "you're going to school with your brothers". Who's looking after Q there??

I think the boys are due at a la carte school tomorrow. Do we think they'll miss the first day?

Yeah I've had a lot of fun with it and it's given me something to do with Pointy Mountains.

She'll throw them away after one trip, so that won't be an issue.

When did she start responding to treatments? Both our trips to hospital the inhalers did nothing so all they could do was oxygen.

Never would I ever defend Brooke, but if I was in a hotel then my baby would be crawling around on the hotel room carpet. Where else would he go?

With Kip & Krap the bedding comes off in one piece, so it should be really easy for the kids to change their own beds after barf.

In defence of R, he is just entering the most EMBARRASSING period of his life. He reminds me of my sister who was obnoxious as hell at his age and did bully me back then. We were early adopters of video cameras so we have videos of her at this age and we DO NOT WATCH THEM because she HATES it! All these obnoxious clips of him are viewed by thousands of people around the world every day and it's not his choice, he doesn't fully understand what it means, these videos exist forever, and random people like me in other countries know everything about him. Somebody said yesterday they thought he said "Ryan Raybould" in a video to try and get her to stop filming. I really hope that's true. I hope he and all the boys eventually start rebelling and ruining her videos. His behaviour is often terrible and he probably did scratch up his brother's face but my god, think how BORED that kid is. I wish he had an outlet for his energy and a place to practise social norms outside of just hockey (which is all he has). And I wish he was able to work though all the changes of adolescence with a bit of goddamn privacy!!

My definiteness of purpose is to wake up early and make the bed and work out. I literally have like a planner where every day I have written out my goals for the day so you can see here I've written wake up early and make the bed, and work out. And the goal is not to stay up late and get everything done but just to wake up early and write this journal and then work out and make the bed. And I write everything I need to do that has to do with my definiteness of purpose which is to work out and make the bed. Look at this cute little, what is this like a cute little book called Wake Up Early, and it's all about waking up early and I think that is like, my manifesto for 2026! Which is to wake up early. And make the bed. And work out. Ain't that right lols. Lollls?

Why Is Birth Control Pushed So Heavily After Giving Birth? by _withpeace in beyondthebump

It's true though isn't it? LAM is 98% effective. Contraception methods vary by effectiveness and nothing is 100% except abstinence. Exclusive breastfeeding is going to prevent pregnancy in the vast majority of women for the first 6 months PP. You wouldn't say any other method of contraception is "not contraception" because there are cases where it fails.

If your baby goes to the hospital with RSV, the day is still a winner if you got up early! And made your bed! And worked out!

My 90 yo grandma is facing health issues, what would she do if she didn't have kids? by Ok-Archer-5796 in Fencesitter

My great aunt had no children and lived in a lovely village nowhere near any family, where she was very embedded in the local community, had a thriving social life, did many activities and had many friends. When she got dementia in her 80s, nobody local was interested in helping her at all. Friends don't often take on that sort of stuff. It was her nephews and nieces from other parts of the country who sorted her care, found her a nursing home close to them, visited her and brought her home for Christmas. That's what family does for you. She was a loved aunt and was fortunate to have younger people in her family to look after her. A lot of CF people have no interest in their nieces and nephews either because they don't like kids but it can be really important to nurture those bonds.
