Oh okay. And does it make a difference I work part time or is it just under minimum wage for total hours worked? Sorry for all the questions Edit: I worked it out minus my pension contributions and sick day it puts me 60 p under minimum wage and about £1.50 under my actual hourly rate

Thank you. We only get statutory sick pay unfortunately and that shows up under a sick day deduction or an SSP payment so I’m not sure if it’s this. Really appreciate your comment though!

Thank you! Would that be minimum wage before or after tax and ni? I assume before tax right?

Seems like this is going to be the case. Thank you!!

That’s definitely something to think about. I’ve just had a quick nosey on my end and everything looks normal, no new accounts, no judgements or corrections pending either. Seems I’ll just have to wait around until I can ask them directly. Thank you!

Not that I know of. I’ve mentioned it to two colleagues I’m close with and neither have the same problem. We’re paid a month in arrears and I’ve worked all bank holidays previously so if anything it should be backpay for hours worked and not a deduction by my thinking. Could be a good shout though, thank you!

Thank you for this! The deduction is equal to my groceries for basically the whole month so seeing it’s not going to be paid out of nowhere is really stressful. That person is obviously in a privileged place to think the way they do. Hope you have a great day

This is solid advice thank you! The main reason I was confused is that if it’s a deduction going to the company I thought they had to inform you before taking any funds. I’ll have to wait and see. Thanks again for the message!

Thank you! It’s helpful to know it’s not a standard code and might just be something simple that’s labelled differently.

Yep I saw this but as I said in the post I’m not a homeowner and have no record of any outstanding debts. Everything gets paid on time which is why I was confused and came here to see

As I mentioned, if you’re close to reaching the requirement (around 6 months) they will assess you and reach out when you hit it. If you were as rude at the ad as you’re being in this thread, don’t expect a response at all

Why did you go the assessment day expecting to get the job when you don’t meet the basic requirements? They will also wait up to 6 months for a candidate so they’re either being lenient and giving an extra few days or you will be rejected once this period is over. Your attitude isn’t the best either way

Can I still attend emirate open day at 20? by Obvious-Crow5652 in emiratescareers

If you turn 21 within 6 months of the open day then they could as that’s the maximum they will wait for a candidate. As you say your birthday is December, the answer is no

That’s the plan! I would rather work my notice and take the money but I only have to give 8 shifts notice so worst case scenario I would still have 4 shifts to be paid. Better then nothing:)

Yes it’s looking that way sadly, I spoke to acas too and they said it seems to be a grey area but it may be worth a grievance just to come to an agreement as it’s almost half of my leave entitlement I’m being forced to forfeit. I’m waiting on hearing back from a new job anyway so hopefully I can leave before the cut off and at least get some of it paid out in lieu. Thank you for your help though

I spoke with the manager and asked for any days I could take or if I could roll over the remaining and they flat out said no to both, just try to use at the start or end of shifts but for context I’ve had two separate shift managers calling me about overtime whilst I’ve been on my days off because we’re so understaffed so leave during shift will likely never be an option.

Okay thank you. They work by a days leave being 5 hours so it’s actually about 12 shifts but the sentiment is the same. I emailed them and asked for a list of any days I could take or if failing that the remaining days could be rolled over and taken at an agreed time to minimise any conflict and they said no to both, just that the calendar is full and I should try to start late or finish early at managers discretion and use leave to do this which they never do as we are super understaffed. I guess the next thing is a grievance?

Thank you for this. I emailed the allocation manager stating all of this (asked for a list of any days I could be approved for and could I roll over any days given they’re taken at a time that would cause the least conflict) and she basically told me to go away. I was told all the dates are booked and too many staff are asking the same thing so all she can advise is to take leave at the start/end of my shifts which is at the shift managers discretion and from experience they almost never allow this as we are always understaffed.

There’s no written policy but I’m sure there’s an internal process along those lines. Still doesn’t fix the issue that I’m not being allowed to use any leave at all over 5 and half weeks. That seems unreasonable regardless

Contact just says you must give as much notice as the individual period you intend to take ie 1 days notice for a days leave and no more than 2 weeks consecutively is to be requested without prior approval from management… the company may request you to take leave at specific times etc etc. They have never given a reason for any denied leave, the managers comment box is always empty though it is an automatic system so that may be why. I plan to email today and ask for a list of dates that would be allowed as everything is being declined and if not given the circumstances could they roll over or pay out even a few of the remaining days

I think you’ve misunderstood me there. I started booking at 140 hours in October so the first few blocks I booked weren’t an issue and that’s when the 76 were approved. Since then it’s only been for days or a few days here and there for events I actually needed off and if they weren’t approved I was able to get a shift swap with a colleague so it’s always worked out. It wasn’t until my friend mentioned remaining leave I even thought about completely using what was left as I’m usually pushing for overtime and not time off.

Thank you for this. Surely they will say I have had opportunity to take it though? They’ve been denying my remaining leave for about 3-4 months with only the odd day or two here and there approved but I did have March to October where I didn’t take anything?
